Sam Morse was a quiet man by all accounts. One story however, has him doing a lot of talking to himself. Some say it's a side affect to brilliance...others the start of senility. Anyway you cut it, Sam was capable of singular outbursts at times that insight might have influenced. The above question could have been answered by a third grader anytime from the turn of the century to about the 70's or so. Not sure if the kids today are as versed in historical fact as they once were. Sam's famous statement (of course) was: "what hath God wrought," which he exclaimed silently across the wire of his telegraph; he "keyed it" on his new contraption! How in the world does that apply as an answer to the question you ask? I do admit that, it does only in an, well, esoteric way. Truth is, it COULD apply. Now, some one hundred and sixty six years later, this little tidbit of information might be new to you; I suspect some ("baby boomers" and older folk alike) will possibly know this. Most will not. What I'm talking about is another exclaimation he uttered, this time out loud. One that more directly applies to the Brown Bear / calibre / bigger vrs. smaller debacule that seems to have metamorphed (sort of like "Bruce Banner" into the "Hulk") this forum. It was on his twenty-fifth attempt to get his experiment correct that Sam exclaimed: "what a bunch of bull this sh _t is!" Oh, I forgot to add: YMMV! best, bhtr | ||
