Greetings All-

I am involved in an effort to get truthful information out to the voting public regarding Proposition 3, the attempt to ban bear bating.

At 9:00 am, Monday, Oct 25th, myself and Mike Hamrick, both Kenai residents, will be joined by Jennifer Yuhas, Executive Director of the Alaska Outdoor Council (AOC), on Kenai radio station KSRM-920AM. Mike H and I will be in the studio and Jennifer will be on by phone from Fairbanks.

If you are in the listening area, please tune in and/or call in and help support to inform voters of the terrible implications of this proposition to hunters and nonhunters alike. If you are outside the listening area, you can listen on your computer here:
http://www.radiokenai.net/ksrm/index.asp
and click on the Listen Live Online link.

Thanks for your support.
VOTE NO ON 3!!

Mike

WOW! No replies. I take that as 100% support
Here is more--I am not a gud tipe ritter so I Pasted what I posted on another site:

One of the many problems with Prop3 is that it plays on emotion and does not rely on science or biological management. In fact, if it passes, it removes biological management as a tool for ADFG.

Articles have been written that in thr US 7-8% of the folks are ardent hunters. 7-8% of the folks are ardent antihunters. That leaves 85% of folks in the middle that do not have strong feelings either way--these are the voters that need truthful information to guide their decision. Most or all campfire members (AK Res) will vote no on Prop3 regardless of their use of bait.

There are a number of reasons that make the use of bait an appropriate, effective and yes, ethical and humane LEGAL METHOD for the harvest of bears.

More importantly, wildlife management by initiative is an oxymoron. It voids the "management" portion of that phrase, it fines and/or imprisons people for TAKING PICTURES of fed bears, and unless F&G does not have to play by the rules, they may not bait bears into live traps to remove problem bears, nor may orphaned cubs be baited to be captured alive. This actually happened near Anchorage this spring.

So it's the 85% that needs to make an informed, rational decision on Prop3, rather than be swayed by the "Lazy, unethical chatter of the antis.

Mike good luck on the radio. Hopefully the host will allow everyone to speak and is not Roseanne.

There have already been several posts concerning the issue. I think that anyone that hunts is with us. Because, as our numbers dwindle, if we are not united on issues, then we are going to loose everything. Bait hunter or not, united we stand, divded we fall.
