7 WSM is a factory chambering. 6.5 WSM is strictly handload. I would pick the 6.5 though hands down for me, factory ammo is meaningless to me. If you want a factory round get the 270 WSM, my brother has one and it is awesome. | |||

What? Excuse me Busheler? Hey if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything, besides you don't know me so any comment you make about me is incorrect. Actually I get to shoot quite a bit and load nearly all my own ammo. I enjoy reloading and taking game with my own handloads. For me the reason 6.5 wins hands down is I'm a big fan of the 6.5 and not much of a 7mm fan, just personal preference and have often thought about building a 6.5 WSM. We (family) have several 6.5 Swedes and I would like to own another 6.5 with a bit more velocity. The 270 WSM is still a very legitimate choice unless you don't like .270's? 6.5's have a great bullet selection so does 7mm's either will do nearly what the other does without any discernable difference pick one and don't look back. If you want it to shoot bullets bigger than 160 go 7mm if you want somethin' different than most go 6.5. Good luck with your choices. | |||

I only have one but it shoots very well--have not shot it that much since it was finished. Still use the Warp 7 and the 6.5x284 the most here in Texas. Later this summer will be going out to practice the long range stuff and will take the 6.5 WSM on a few weekend hunts. | |||

I have two 6.5 WSMs. A Winchester M70 Featherweight, and another Winchester with a heavier barrel, both 24 inches. Favorite load is a 120 gr Barnes X 62/V-N560 for 3250 fps in one rifle, a tad more in the featherweight. My boys used it in South Africa in 2008 shooting everything from warthogs, impala, hartebeast and wildebeast with it, hammered. I was pretty impressed with the performance of the small bore.
