I'll be heading to Kamchatka 2nd of may for bear, but there is the opportunity to do some fishing there.
I have never been much of a freshwater fisherman so I don't know where to start.
I will be taking a spinning rod and want to use lures, it's not worth spending the money on a fly rod for me.
I realize it's not Alaska, but the conditions will be similar at least.

Blue Fox Vibrax spinners in #4-5, & Pixie spoons, or any thing shiney.

tsturm - said it all with Vibrx. I find gold and siver tend to get the most action.

Not sure what tackle is available in Italy, but you might want to look at some of the various Norwegian spoons in 25-35 gram weights. Also make sure you have a medium heavy rod and suitable reel.

Many of the fish in Ak are migratory. When the king salmon run up many rivers, trout tend to follow them feed on their spit eggs. Most the trout in this one river in Matsu I use to fish were rainbows. If you put on say a #5 vibrex rainbow finish; you would always have kings attacking it and yet they wouldn't bite on much else at times.

You'll probably have char & grayling over there; catch them on small spinners & small jigs. I always tipped jigs with berkley power grubs; look like maggots. Fish see the jigs skipping thru the rocks, think they are food.

We bait bear in May also, you won't be fishing much; way too many bugs for that. I hear in Russia the sky gets black with them.

The very best is an Okie Drifter rig with two tied gamagatsu hooks plunged into king salmon eggs cured with borax wrapped in an egg sack made out of woman's nylon pantyhose.

Beats the crap out of everything else.

Take some plain hooks and a meter of orange and green yarn. There isnt a salmon, dolly varden, or rainbow alive that can not be caught with a piece of yarn on a hook.
