Fairbanks had a gun show today....I look forward to these, but lately it seems as if I always see the same junk or outragous prices vs. paying for it new. I think more than anything it is becoming more of a social event.

Is Anchorage's gun shows the same? Just wondering.

All the gun shows I have been to lately in Anchorage and the valley have been like that. Beat up old ruger 77's for $395. Yeah right.

I went to the gun show in FRBNKS today. I bought a box of 200gr sierra BT .308 bullets for $13.00 . Other than that I saw a 17HMR taurus stainless 6" for $250 and a good looking pre-64 30-06 for $650.

I did see a lot of guns that were very high priced (overpriced).

I saw an argentine mauser at a gun show (as opposed to gun SALE) here that was PAINTED BLACK(!!) and the stock was PAINTED with DECK STAIN! The joker had a price tag of $350.00!!! I laughed out loud at him. A lot of crap for 3 times the price of what good stuff should sell for.

That was the first one I had been to in 4 years, it will be the last in at least another 4. Waste of time, I can't belive the charge us suckers to get in there.

The same goes on in the Anchorage shows, folks selling "well worn" firearms for new gun prices. What is the old saying "there is a sucker born every minute"..... Now, I know that some claim that the gun makers are struggling with quality control but sometimes the pricing is simply ridiculous at these gunshows. I have laughed at several vendors and their prices and walked away but I am certain I was replaced by someone that found something they had to own and they paid the price asked. There may be some good deals mixed in; I, however, continue to be very cautious. To each his own, we have the freedom to choose. KMule

Went to a gunshow with my dad awhile back. It's nice to see things in person, but for the price of admission I'd rather stay at home and browse the on-line stuff.
I rarely see more than one unique gun at these shows. The rest is in one of 3 categories:
1) Cheap knives (arts and crafts...)
2) New-In-Box MSRP rifles & pistols
3) Billy Bob custom rifles (ie rifles with coins glued in the stock)

I just went to the Anchorage gun show today. $125 for a 98% Rem. 721 in 270 Win. $125 for an Ithaca M-37 12 ga 90% and $175 for a like new Old original Ruger Bearcat 22. There were a half dozen super clean Mauser banner M-98s and at least a dozen English SxS shotguns under $1500. I havn't had that much fun at a gun show in years.

Yup! I went too. You're right, same old junk. I suppose that there are some who like old military junk but I'm not one of them. The only thing I saw that was moderately interesting to me were some extended magazines for my High Standard Supermatic Citation. The guy wanted $29 each for them which I suspect wasn't a bad price since I've paid a bit more than that from a collector for a normal length one. I only stayed at the show for about an hour before losing interest. Bear in Fairbanks

Same old, Same old.

Table vendors all seem to have green eye$.

I rarely buy at the shows anymore, but I'll consider trading. I still have to go in knowing they'll want to take advanage of me in order to close a deal.

I wonder if they go home afterward, twist their moustaches in the mirror, and chuckle.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that sees the same CRAP for way too much $$$$$.

I took a rifle to the show for a possible trade. I got the same answer at every table I went to. "I don't trade guns I only sell." I finally had enough and told one of the guys "I don't buy shit guns at millionare prices!"

Was looking for a 7mm die set for reasonable price..HA HA, ya right $15 bucks for a set that appeared to be mauled by a dumby with a pipe wrench. The rest of them was $20-$25 for used not to mention one had a "F"in case stuck in it.

I passing up the next few gun shows and shooting instead!

gun shows- Old junk at new prices! Occasionally I will find a deal, but you must go in knowing what retail price is. I view it as entertainment and dont get carried away with my wallet.
