Wow! What a story! I can't see how that ice axe strike-its depth and the width of the ice axe- couldn't eventually have killed that bear. I wonder if there was any follow up by officials. | |||

It took a lot of grit to fight that bear with an ice axe. If he's not dead, I'm guessin he's pissed as hell though. Wouldn't want to meet Old Axey in the thick stuff in the spring. Most likely with 5 rounds fired at close range the bear if he made into a den. Most likely well die there. Doesn't sound like there was any follow up. | |||
