Pics to follow. Need to get to where it's stored later this week to inspect the wrist but I don't recall a pin. Tang was relieved a long time ago--but the idea of drilling it and adding cross-bolts 'crossed' my mind.

On the other hand, it's only 'original' once.

Nice catch.

It looks like it was built quite a while ago, based on the scope and mount.

Pull the barreled action and check for cracks or flaws in the bedding (is the tang 'glass bedded?). Also, I don't see evidence of cross-bolts in the photo; if the grip cap is removable, do you see evidence of the wrist having been pinned?

Finally, check all the screws on the action and scope mounts/rings. tu2

Frank,

He had posted about a Flaig's LH .458WM on a Savage 110.

For some reason, he edited the title and removed the photos. bewildered

Here they are again...

My picturetrail account was over-limit (have some Africa photos to post) and I inadvertently deleted them. Made room...posted them up again.

Basic story...

A recent acquisition of a vintage P. Jaeger .458 on a Savage 110 action. George has some good observations...and I'll post a further report soon. Hands full now with fund raising for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Probably won't be able to go to the range until (at least) mid-Nov.

Got a black-tail deer tag to fill as well...

Cheers.
