I was going to convert my stainless, 7 Mag, M77 Mk II to 458 Win Mag but I hadn't thought about adding the DBM. Then when I found the company that imported the left handed Zastavas for us Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. frank a few years back I had Chase [the gun doctor] build me a few ;;working;; rifles on the left hand ruger m 77 we/he made a nice heavy rifle not as smooth as a 98 but they work quite well we set one up in a .423 cal and then made one in to a 375 Tayler so [338-375] the next one is a left hand 338 win mag all using the 300 win mag or 7mm s a base rifle/action so parent brass for that group so 2 wild cats and one standard restocked they made an attractive rifle and run quit well but the full conversion upgrade was about 2ooo usd each so no great bargain we converted this Remington to get a smoother feed in the action and to accommodate the bottom medal out there to make a clip feed rifle to take on next years buffalo cull hunt in Australia I found bottom medal for a m70 win rifle so we will put that on a right hand and see how it works but I expect this gun to function quite well I am building one in 375 hh so a will arrive with a set of 2 that are compatible with down under [in store] bullet inventory's Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win----

That's a lot of firepower. How does the detachable mag system stand up to the recoil from a 458 in rapid fire?

ashamed to say have not yet got it out to the rolling tire target range to put it to the test when that is done will post video link and report we are doing 2 more rifles one in 375 hh w clip and one in 458 wm win m70 using the bottom medal from the Florida source so thinking about using the Montana action [win like] that I purchased from hot core a few months back to do the Winchester test as this requires a bit of milling on the receiver and as such is not readily reversible so may get them all tested before may weather permitting Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win----

got out to the range and fired the rifle we were able to get 10 rounds down the mag and one in the tube so lots of ammo to fire in one clip the clip clear full ran trouble free ran 60 rounds through the rifle the 510 grain reported a velocity of 1870 fps federal premium ammunition 400 grain barns x were loaded to 2350 feet per second as fired out of this rifle shot about 30 rounds loaded with a 400 grain soft 45-70 bullet for plinking with a infield velocity of 2340 fps clip feed was surprisingly trouble free all rounds recoil presented no issues with clip dropping out the trigicon reflex sighting system was intuitive and accuracy once sighted in was quite good very very fast target acquisition the triangle recital is extremely precise may look at same model with battery for very low light to cover all conditions including night shooting the rifle at 11 pounds was surprisingly quite recoil friendly seems to be working ok in fact surprisingly good for a prototype set up looks like we have the makings for a real cull rifle may change the bottom medal to the design that has the release on the out side of the trigger guard as at one point the trigger finger jumped forward on recoil and released the clip under rapid fire we chose the in trigger release for looks now seems for reliability may want to look at the model that has the release mechanism ahead of the trigger guard just for reliability and wild shooting in a hunting environment so more later Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win----

I would be more concerned how my detachable retina's would hold up to rapid fire 458.

That's impressive enough, without rapid fire.

Mike with the 11 pounds and a quality recoil pad you will be surprised what a difference there is in recoil any one with a little practice can shoot a 458 all day when these things are done to the gun at 8-9 pounds you go home sore and flinch ie if you want to fix a flinch and sneak up on a workable gun weight for caliber and load start out and 12.5 pounds and work down as that weight will tame a 460 wetherby or 416 wetherby Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win----
