Has anyone tried to fit a receiver sight to their LH Charles Daly Mausers? I'm thinking of a Lyman 48. Obviously a 48M (for RH Mausers) will not fit. Maybe a sight for a Winchester 70 would work? I'd appreciate any information or insights anyone can provide. cheers, - stu

Saw this on another Forum. A left hand Charles Daly Mauser with a Williams Receiver sight. Here is the link it was on: Rifle Blueprints-24hr

Iron Buck, Thanks for pointing this one out to me. Nice looking rig Utah708 has there. Now all I need is to find out what model Williams sight that is. I couldn't find an obvious match when I checked the Williams catalog. Might have to contact Utah708 to find out. cheers, - stu

I have an old Redfield peep that I picked up for fitting to a LH Zastava action I have. It was designed for use on a RH action but expect that the parts will swap over to make it look like it was meant to be a leftie. Even they dont it will still work OK.

Roger This is a Left hand Zastava action that was imported by Charles Daly for several years back. No longer available in the us market. This action has been worked over to look so nice. But they do have lots of potential

A Lyman 57 made for a Model 70 Winchester will fit. It goes on the right side of the action. Quick, Cheap, or Good: Pick Two

I bought a Lyman 48 WJS to test mounting on my LH Zaztava action. Looks like it'll work out OK. Here are some photos and comments sent to me by the gunsmith who has all the parts. "The sight will work out pretty good with minimal modification. The only thing that needs to be changed is the thickness of the knurled release knob to clear the bolt handle…piece of cake. This picture shows the area I will cut down. In this photo the lock knob is not screwed down solid and locked yet. When it is locked down in the ready-to-use position there is only about .030” interference." Hope this information might be useful to someone. cheers, - stu

Stu, Looks great! ****************************************************************** R. Lee Ermey: "The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle." ****************************************************************** We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!!
