I'veaasked this elsewhere so forgive me if you have already read and responded to this. I don't have any experience with Sako rifles, but I know they are highly regarded. The lefthanded 85 Hunter rifles are going for 1800-2000,a day I am curious if you think they are worth this or if the price is more reflective of having to import a limited run batch. At the price they are listed they don't seem to be flying off the shelves. Some look really nice with a stock you'd expect to see on a 2000 rifle and others are more classic looking with nice but not flashy wood.

So what's the consensus?

...on earth as it is in Texas

No, I wouldn't pay $2000 for it.

My feeling is you're not getting much for your money. I gave a little over $1K for my 75 Hunter eight years ago and wondered if that wasn't too much at the time, especially for a gun only available in three plain-vanilla chamberings and with a detachable magazine. (New Model 70s were still available then for about $600 and Model 77 Rugers could be had for around $500, as a point of reference.)

For $2K plus -- even if the Beretta Group empire is offering 6.5x55mm for a change -- I'd think about a Cooper, a Montana ASR or a mild custom.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I recently acquired a LH 85 in 9.3x62. I was on the hunt for one for quite awhile before I found this one.
Up here it was tagged @ $2200.00, I did a little trading so it didn't outright put me out the money.
Is it worth the price? doubt it, but are the sometimes very pricey "customs" that you will find in my gun room, and all across this board worth it?....Not always.
I've wanted a 9.3 for quite awhile, being LH we are obviously limited in our choices. I was going to have one built, but figured by the time I paid to have it done, along with the wait time....this wasn't a bad deal.

So far, I have only shot a box of factory Lapua ammo through it. I think its gonna be a shooter. It was about -14C out, after initial sight in, I managed to shoot several 100yd 3/4-1" groups.
I think with my handloads (and a warmer day), I should be able to maintain that accuracy, or maybe improve on it a little.

I think I'll like this gun a lot. The only thing I don't like so far, is the blocky/squarish shape of the stock below the mag well, I think I will be reshaping that here shortly.
I didn't know how I'd like the DM (not a fan), but after handling it, there is no way you are going to inadvertently drop the magazine out while crawling around in the think and nasties.

I will say that the action is without question the slickest/smoothest I have ever seen in a factory gun....glass ball bearings comes to mind.
I might do a better review and post results here after I shoot/handle it more, and get some 286gr. Woodleighs loaded up for it.

I hope to bloody it on a couple Spring Bears in May....
