Thought you boys might be able to help me out finding a used lefty Rem 700 action for a new build. A used 223 would be perfect. I could care less about the barrel condition. I am looking to make a 6.8spc bolt gun. If anyone has one or knows of a gun shop that has a used one please elt me know.

Don't limit yourself to the 700 for a 6.8 SPC build unless you have your heart set on one. I used a CZ 527 lefty .223 to build mine and it turned out very nice. Use 7.62x39 bottom metal and magazines after the bolt and barrel are done. You can use the .223 bottom metal, but it has to be opened up and it was easier to buy new 7.62 metal. It feeds and shoots like it was made for the 6.8. Lefty 527s are pretty easy to find. Liked it so much I did another in 20 Vartarg on a lefty 204 Ruger. Use the 221 Fireball mags and it also is a great feeding and shooting rifle. Good luck with your search and project. ______________________ Guns are like parachutes. I'll certainly take a look for CZ's. Any idead where to get one? Did you go tight chamber? So far I believe I'm going to stick with 115gr ProHunters (very accurate in my AR's) and 110gr Accubond and TSX, TTSX. I appreciate the advice.

Mine is the original 6.8 chamber, not the Spec II. I used a Remington 270 take off barrel with a 1 in 10" twist rate and had it cut to 20". Makes a nice handy package. I also LOVE the Pro hunters in this rifle. Very accurate and deadly on deer. I had no luck with the Barnes TSX as they would not group well no matter what I tried and I had a complete failure of a TSX, pencil through & through, a white tail doe with no expansion at 47 yards. So I have stuck with the Pro Hunters for my choice. YMMV I've also had very good luck with the Pro Hunters in my 2 - 6.8 ARs. I have some of the Accubonds ready to try, however I'm not very motivated to load them up as I've had such good luck with the Pro Hunters. My friend with a converted Ruger Model 77 in 6.8 likes the V Max bullets on deer. At 6,8 velocities he says they perform more like a good quality controlled expansion bullet than a V Max. Good expansion and penetration. He has shot several deer at ranges from 100-250 yards with those bullets in the 6.8. The V Max bullets do group well in my rifle. Just don't feel the need to make the change for my rifle. I've seen new lefty 527s on Gun Broker and other sites for around $600. I have a friend that can get them at his store for a reasonable price. PM me if your interested in his contact information. ______________________ Guns are like parachutes. Thanks ChopperGuy. PM inbound. My AR's are both SPII chambers. I may look to go DMR with the bolt gun, or simply stick w. the SPII. Funny you mentioned an issue with the TSX. I shot a large doe at 115yrds with the TSX. Bullet drove through both front shoulders and exited. From the damage done it looks like the bullet did not expand. I have used the Accubonds and they are great. Funny thing is that in a whole lot of other calibers (they are my fav. bullet) they are some of the most accurate I can find. Yet in my 6.8's they are no as acurate as the Pro Hunters.
