I have 8 left handed bolt action rifles and I've never owned a 30.06, 270, or 300 Win Mag bolt gun! If it wasn't for the stainless laminate Ruger that I bought in 7 Mag (that is going to be rebarreled) I wouldn't have any of the "standard lefties". Frank I was in the same boat until about 2 years ago and then I got a Ruger M77 MKII in 30-06. I now have two 30-06 and two .300 Win Mags. I am very happy with the 30-06 and shoot it a great deal. Primarliy since it has the same type of safety as my .375 and .416 so practice with the 30.06 translated to those two rifles. I admit that had I owned a .308 with the same controls as my .375 and .416 I may have never pruchased the Ruger or the Winchester rifles in 30.06. GPT Bakersfield, Ca.

It's good you've managed to keep your left-handed dignity without resorting to run-of-the-mill calibers. (golf clap here) However, those common calibers are so-chambered because they've been proven again and again to simply 'work' when the time comes. Me, I wouldn't trade my LH 270 for anything, likewise with the more obsure LH 340! _____________________________________________________ No safe queens!
