So I'm thinking of a 260 Rem build. Options out there are a Ruger, Zastava and Montana. The Ruger and Zastava will have to be rebarreled and the Montana will come as chambered. The price will be a wash between all of them. So what do you all think?

Not sure why Ruger dropped the 260. I just picked up a righty compact stainless in 260, even though I'm a lefty. It's just too damn cool. Maybe the kids will use it some day, but till then, I will.

I have also looked into these action for a build. The montana are ok but I think you could do better building one. both the ruger and zastava will need some work. I think it comes down to which one you like. I would go with the zastava just to have a mauser crf action. I did build a 260 rem on a lh 700 and I have ordered a zastava lh m70 6.5x55 for a project gun. good luck and you will like the 260.

I built a 260 from a LH Browning micro A Bolt. The rifle began life as a 308. It's a true short action receiver.

My only 260 is in an AR10 style rifle. The Montana Rifle Co short action is more sized for the 7x57 cartridge length, I have my MRC action built into a 6.5x284 which it fits perfectly.

why not just order the LH Zastava 6.5 Swede? And try it

I have a LH MRC SS 6.5 X 284 the MRC is quite heavy. I think I would buy a SA Ruger from CDNN
and rebarel it if you want a SA LH 260. CDNN has a SA LH Hawkeye in 22-250 for $549 in this months cat.

Order the Tikka T3 Hunter from Alex at EuroOptic. I have one on order and it is scheduled to arrive in August.
You can see a photo on their website.
