I am thinking of buying a new .375 H&H with left hand action and stock. It want it to be a real 'working tool'so that I can use it in hot, wet or cold areas. I intend to use it for DG as well as PG. It should have a synthetic or laminated stock and should have a Mauser type controlled round feed. Am I looking for the 'holy grale'or is this type of rifle available in a factory execution? Thanks in anticipation

Good luck!!!

About the only option I can think of, is if you can find one of the limited SS Laminate Hawkeyes in 375 Ruger, I recently saw one on guns international. There is also a LH Mod 70 375 H+H listed on Guns broker right now that would be easy to re-stock.

Good luck in your quest, I didnt have patience to wait to find a Mod 70 & the Ruger wasnt out yet. heres mine

If you must have the H&H then I would suggest a SS barreled action from MRC. Add a McMillan stock and you are good to go for about $1,500.
But the Ruger is a much better buy and even has factory iron sights. The MRC holds 4 down vs the Ruger's three down.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

is the Ruger M 77 RSM MKII available in left hand execution? And if so, can it be restocked with a synthetic or laminated stock?

You can still find a few LH Rugers on gunbroker in 375 Ruger. The African and a few special run SS Laminate are available. See the thread on the LH ruger Alaskan on this forum for more details. I decided to take the plunge and pick one up. Very nice little compact rifle and it is currently a great value for the LH shooter looking for a 375.

There are a few CZs available but I think the price has jumped quite a bit.

Actually, I was looking at the CZ i have and the M70 last night; through the forestock the CZ is fine, but at the magazine area is where it gets a little big. And in factory stocks the CZ feels kinda clumsy in the hands and it's a pretty long tube.

If you go into the Gunsmithing forum and search on I think CZ 550 peep sight solution or something like that you can see work marc Stokeld did on one which will show that they can be made into pretty trim firearms all things considered. and there is the AHR route as well.

The Ruger is just a tad too thin for me. but to each his own.

Roscoe, I had a long look at the Ruger Alaskan, as well and it looks like a great value. On the other hand, I would like to stick to the H%H, instead of going for a cartridge that might not make it in the long run and of which the availability worldwide might be a problem. Also, I heard thet the Ruger kicks significantly harder. What is your experience with this rifle so far?
