I have an older Heym Mod 20 in 222 with a "period" Lyman All-American 10X SL scope I think I`ll clean up and put on Gunbroker.com one of these days. Beautiful old rifle but I never use it anymore. Aloha, Mark, If I'm not mistaken the Model 20 was Heym's full-sized (standard-length) action (same as your .30/06 Sprg.) but in .222 Remington would still be a very rare and worthwhile piece for a Lefty. I have a Heym Model 40 (the ORIGINAL Mini-Mauser), serial number #5474, complete Left Hand arrangement (action & stock) in .223 Remington I ordered from Heym & received in 1985. The workmanship, finish & performance on my piece is superb and if yours is anything considerable then I would imagine you've a firearm that would certainly bring respectable $$$. Dear Gerry, Mine is # 2531. Any idea where I can get the rear sight insert that has the sight blade? Mine has been missing for years now. Aloha Mark, Yup, Heym Model SR 40, Cool! I took mine out and looked at the rear sight, there is a blade insert with the sighting notch in it that affixes with a screw into the rear sight. If this is what you are looking for then I'll give Heym a call on Monday morning and see if I can obtain the insert for you, O.K.? Cheers, Number 10 | |||

I am new to the forum and noticed your posts regarding the Heym Mod 40 in 222. Is this rifle in any way similar to the Mauser 4000 made by Heym? I have two of the 4000's and I love them but I am left-handed and they are both RH rifles. | |||

Roscoe, The Mauser 3000 is similar to the Heym SR 20 standard action of the same vintage. Both actions were made by Heym but the stocks are different and some other details on saefty and trigger. The Mauser 4000 is similar to the Heym SR 40 again with same exceptions. The Mauser 4000's were never made in LH however. Also, only in .222 and .223. The Mauser 3000 and 2000 were both made in a LH model. I have several and they are the smoothest action of any I own. Also, the trigger is the most adjustable trigger of any factory rifle I have seen. | |||
