I just ordered a left hand 300RCM Compact rifle for a customer. If you look at the Ruger website, they show these guns with 20 inch barrels and iron sights. When the gun came in, the barrel had no sights at all. So I called Ruger and asked what was up. They called back the next day and told me that a few of the early production guns were made without iron sights. I thought great! This is an instant collector's item.! However, my customer had other ideas: He wanted to have the 300 RCM match the configuration of the LH 375 African I sold him, so I sent the gun back to Ruger to have it rebarreled with iron sights. (No cost, by the way, and they paid shipping.) Maybe I should have kept the rifle and ordered the customer a new one. So if you want an instant collector's item, have your dealer order one of these rifles. You might get lucky!
