Are NIB LH mini Mauser actions worth building a lightweight varminter on? You can buy the complete actions (with bottom metal) for $300. I realize that they're pushfeeds but they're for varmint calibers so that doesn't matter. I had a LH CD 223 and found it to be a POS! Trigger was terrible and the action would bind if you cycled it too fast. IMO you would be better off spending your money on another type of action. ****************************************************************** R. I just got one of those LH Mini Mauser actions in the white with 223 bolt face. The trigger was adjusted by my local gunsmith, Michael Richards, southerncrossguns@peoplepc.com. It now goes click at 1 pound and 12 ounces. OK, it is a push feed, but some very accurate rifles are push feed. And I will not use it for Dangerous Game. They can be made into some wonderful little rifles. That said, they're diamonds in the rough. The actions need slicked up a little and in some cases it's better to just replace the trigger instead of fighting the factory one. A Timney will bolt right in. IMO, I would build a nice walking rifle instead of a heavy barrel bench gun with one. I'm having Shane Thompson put one together for me right now. It started out as an action and I had planned on just a few simple things for it, but as usual the project has gotten out of hand. 3-pos Winchester style safety Timney trigger 3 panel checkered bolt knob Mock square bridge custom bases Shilen custom contoured barrel with sights barrel band swivel sling James anderson custom bottom metal Should be a peach of a gun when finnished. Seems to me one of the big drawbacks is ... who makes a stock inletted for a left hand mini mauser? Wayne E. | |||
