Mariohunting in the mafia's country
last week end with my Dad, my brother in law and a group of friends we decided to try the experience of an inusual hunt in the unique game farm in Sicily.
Is a pretty unique property (300 hectares) completely fenced.
http://www.bagliotrinita.com/dintorni.aspTher'are: very many wild boar, mouflon sheep, red stag, fallow deer.
The mouflon's trophy quality is very high: We took 4 animals 81, 80, 69 and 64 cm. See the picture of mine (80 cm) over gold medal. I'm also impressed of the high number of the mouflons with many and many big trophies. We took also few females and a couple of joung stags.
The place is very interesting, food is great, and the accomodation
http://www.casedilatomie.com/very confortable. And the climate, oh my god, like spring in northern italy.

VenandiGreat pictures, beautiful trophy!
What's up with the brush in the ram's mouth? Was he feeding when you shot?

rcamugliaI think it is customary to put feed in the animal's mouth. Also to take some of that feed, rub it into the blood, and stuff some in your hat.
All of this is to show respect for the animal, it's last meal, and the meals you will have from it....

Mariothis place was a surprise also for me that I live in the same country ( but 900 km far...).
Yes ther'are also some ducks, mallard mostly, but is quite late in the season now for the migration.
About the grass in the mouth, Rcamuglia have reason, is an old central european tradition.
The food, I cant describe! The typical sicilian food: fresh fish, vegetables, pasta home made and something special like truffles. Dont forget the wonderulf Cassata cake. And the excellent local wine, very strong but incredible fragrant.
