Game Sought: Brown Bear in Romania and Roe deers in Hungary.

In April 2016 I headed to Europe to try my luck with the European Brown bear, my good friend Alex had promised me that he will help set this hunt up for me and he was true to his word. I was to hunt with one of the most well reputable professional hunters of Romania Marius. the plan was to fly to Budapest from where i would drive with my Hungarian friend Alex (not to be confused with my friend Alex who set the Bear hunt for me) all the way to Transylvania and on the way back we would be hunting Roe deers in his area.

no self respecting Hungarian would commence such a long journey with no home made palinka

Traditional Hungarian shepherds coat called a 'Suba'

stopped on the way to try some traditional Hungarian Goulash.

region's best wine district.

That's great! I was considering a Romanian bear hunt in 2018 but since the EU has shut that down, I don't know where to go now.

Is brown bear still an option in Romania/EU? I thought I read in this section that the EU had closed bear hunting along with wolf in member countries.

Beautiful photos of a terrific looking hunt! I hunted with Marius a couple years ago and had a wonderful time.

Mr. Danish:

Thank you for the info. I also apologize as I did not mean to insinuate that you hunted illegally. I was hoping the ban had been lifted or that I was wrong.

No apology needed sir. :-)
i have heard they might open Romania sometime next year for bear but no one can say for sure. until then Croatia is an option however the success rate is not 100% there and from what i have heard the bears art quite as big in size as their Romanian cousins.
