How long was that black caiman? It looks like a good one but I see the chap with the rifle is standing a long way behind it.

That caiman got away and was recovered after it had decomposed and puffed up which makes it look larger than it is. Still its a good black caiman. I shot a few black caiman when Guyana was still called British Guiana but never saw a caiman or a skin longer than about 12 feet. And yet one constantly hears about black caiman from 12 to 20 feet long. This one looks better than 12 feet even puffed up and even with the hunter standing far behind. I would love to see some pics of some real big ones and get some accurate measurements.

Can US citizens hunt in Bolivia and import any of their trophies? The tapir looks like it would make a neat looking mount.

That is a beautiful jaguar, the trophy of a lifetime!

Did you use local dogs to hunt it?
Can the hunter take the skin home or does it stay?

Great photos, I'm puzzled by the size of the tapir; I have always belived that it was like a mid-size dog; I bet it weigh more than 100 KG!

Wildboar: it´s more like 300-plus kilo. Both species are fully protected in almost every country. I understand that in Bolivia local citizens can hunt P.A.C. jaguars under very limited circumstances.

Wildboar: I didn´t taste it. Of course the natives eat that meat with great gusto. Perhaps another member could report.

It seems that no jaguars skins are allowed to be transported or comercialized, except those ones belonging to zoo jaguars died of natural causes. I heard a rumour some years ago about some investigation related to jaguars skins travelling out of the country with falsificated papers, it seems the zoo jaguars where dying in great numbers and someone noticed it... Big Grin Big Grin

Anyway, despite taking the skin back with you or not, this must be an increadible adventure thumb
