Moved to Cadiz in 2002 and then moved to Sicily in 2005. Any information I would have isn't worth much. Almost every single Spanish outfitter I met and Jagd and Hund said that bringing your own rifles is not worth the hassle. I was a poor enlisted schlub in 2005, and spent my money on Namibia. Though I will say this, at the time Ibex were twice as expensive then as they are now. Spanish bueracracy is worse than anyplace I have ever lived except for Italy. So I would probably agree, if possible.

Several years ago, on arrival, they would stamp your passport with a special stamp that included a description of your forearms. You better have those firearms with you on departure.

Mark, Bringing your guns into Spain is quite a simple feat. It might not be worth the hazzle for any lazy outfitters, but definetely is for so many hunters that like to hunt with their own guns. In fact, most of our clients do bring their own. You just need a paper from one of the Spanish Consulates in the US, send it your outfitter here and will have your Spanish Gun Permit well issued in advance and have it ready when you arrive. Be aware, that regardless the fact that you bring a gun or not, to use one in Spain you will need a Fire Arm permit, not just a hunting license which you also need, but a gun permit. Without it you cannot legally borrow and use your outfitter's gun. Regards from Spain, Alvaro

Get a permit via your closest Spanish consulate. http://www.exteriores.gob.es/C...cios-consulares.aspx http://www.exteriores.gob.es/C...s/RequisitosCaza.pdf that along with your 4457 and some information on where you are hunting and where the firearm will be during your entire trip. You'll go over all the paperwork at the police station in the airport.

Did the Slam last year. As easy as any other country I've ever visited. Just the usual SOP paperwork. There are two types of people in the world: those that get things done and those who make excuses. There are no others.

Regarding the huntng license requirement -- is this for our hunting license here in the US -- or Spanish hunting license?? Thanks in advance for any clarification.

I stand corrected. Not all internationals are allowed in. I hope we all get over this mess soo. Thank you for the head up. Everybody should check the latest traveling regulations enforced by any country he wants to travel.

I'm hunting Spain this coming November. I'm planning to use the outfitters gun, but starting to reconsider. I've only used an outfitters gun one other time and really prefer to use my own.

With the exception of last year, I typically hunt in Spain a couple times a year when I'm there for work events. It's a royal pain traveling with a gun anymore and I always use my guide's gun. They typically have very nice rifles such as Blaser, Sako, Sauer, etc. with nice scopes Swaro, Zeiss, SB, etc. I don't see any reason to deal with bringing a rifle along.

I believe you still need a gun permit even when using someone else's gun.

We will hunt Spain late Oct. 2022 for Ibex and Mouflon sheep. We are going through the process to take my own firearm to hunt. My thought regarding this issue stems from spending so much time to dial in an accurate load out to 600 yards plus. I am confident my Remington 700 mountain rifle in 260AI will be more than adequate to take the target animals. Having spent so much time, $$$$, load development and more I would not think to use a firearm, cartridges that I am not fully experienced and confident. Therefore my opinion is to go through the process to travel to Spain to hunt with my rifle. BTW, have done so to RSA and NZ. Yes, is a bit of work but I believe in the confidence it provides.
