the owner, mike carlson, is highly ethical and very pleasant to work with. he has a good sense of humor too. he is an s.c.i. member and generous hunt auction donor.

i arrived in camp 4.5 days late due to weather shutting down all flying. mike still honored the full trip length. some other unscrupulous outfitters would have cut my trip short. i also got weathered in his camp for 1 day on the way out.

the staff is very helpful and tries hard for u. the camp equipment is in great shape and clean.

the facilities were the best that i have ever stayed in. i had my own cabin with heat 2 quenn size beds and full bath limitless hot water and incredible view out the window. mike even has an 8 person hot tub. food was great also.

i took two very nice bucks, one scoring silver metal s.c.i. the duck hunting was incredible. i shot my limit on two days inside 30 min. there are 2 different kinds of foxes there as well.

yes, i had a very nice time. also, nice to deal with an accomodating, reputable, pleasant outfitter. not all are like that.

mike carlson's tel. 907-847-2238.

my deer scored 90 7/8 s.c.i. score silver metal.

don't know about b.c. did not have it scored by them as it would not make their book. likely would have been lower with b.c., due to deductions.

Cold Zero, sounds like a great hunt, especially with the duck combo, which really appeals to me; are the accomodations nice enough for a woman who may be slightly picky and pampered (read: my wife [Big Grin] )? Also, are there any other animals to hunt local to this lodge and, if you don't mind me asking, how much did it set you back??
Thanks for your time,
Craig

this is a semi guided hunt, thus the cost savings. i would recommend doing this after hunting ak. at least once first. i went in nov. 2001 and at that time it was 1,500.

this is the only place i have hunted where i thought i could have taken my girlfriend. the cabin i had was bigg, had t.v., telephone, large bath with hot water same as home, incredible view of harbour. i submit , this cabin was the honeymoon suite. don't forget the big hot tub. the place was clean too. the best accomodations i have had so far in a hunting camp. i was actually shocked.

if there ever was a hunting base camp suitable for a woman, this is the one.
