I would like to know if anyone has hunted with Nordtour in Russia. I noticed they have some very affordable bear hunts. Looks like $230 per day with no minimum. Just wondering.

Magnum, I was just watching that on The Outdoor Channel. Huge Brown Bears, and looks like everyone got one. With Russias economy I bet there are good deals to be had. Where did you hear about it from?

I' ve been looking on the net for Russian brown bear hunts and it has come up several times on a search engine. Price is very appealing, I'm just suspicious. I figured these bear weren't all that big, eastern Russia you know. I was hoping someone may have hunted with them. What else did the show reveal?

Did not catch the whole show, was surfing and saw the huge skinned hides hanging. The guy doing the hunt mentioned the economic status of Russia and said it was a very inexpensive hunt. Also mentioned the food was great so it must of been a semi-organized hunt. Wonder what it costs to get there? I am in if we can get a group together!

Bruz,
Maybe we could get a hunt put together in 2004. I am heading to Africa this year. I have been looking at several bear hunts in Russia, in different places. If we had 3 or 4 people we might get a good rate and "know" everyone in camp. Just a thought.

I am in...with the 3-W contingencies! (Wife, Work, and Whatever else could go wrong.) [Roll Eyes]

My son and a buddy of mine may be up for it. I have sold houses to a couple of people from Russia, I'll talk to them and see if they have any insite...will also do some research.

Anyone else up for it?

Cough, cough. So much for Russia being inexpensive. I am sure it is a good deal and well worth it, but never paying for a hunt before I must admit I am in sticker shock. Going to need to do a little more investegating...

Guys the Nordtour hunt I am talking about is in western Russia I believe according to their website. It is not on Kamchatka it is probably near St. Petersburg or thereabouts. Probably an oat field hunt. Just wondering if there was anyone that had hunted with them to know firsthand. I agree the Kamchatka hunts are a little pricey, but the bears are bigger than elsewhere in Russia. Some of the interior hunts around Lake Baikal, and Magadan are cheaper. Anyone been on one of the interior hunts?

Bruz,
Stay away from the Outdoor Adventures and Denny Gerink hunts in Russia. I paid over 7K for a bear hunt in the Siberian Plains Northeast of Volagda
and it was a disaster. !0 hunters saw a total of 11 Bear and 4 hunters never saw any bear until 2 of the 4 paid a guide extra and they had good bear within 1 to 2 hours. My friend shot a large bear that was passing through the area and the next night they showed him a bigger one but the
fee was $5K for the bigger bear. I made one of the guides mad and when I got home my bear hide had been exchanged and a cub hide was in my duffle. I have heard of other horror stories but I lived this one. HAWKEYE47
