Hi Davaa,
Is it difficult for locals to get ibex permits? What is the most popular hunting gun in Mongolia?

Can-Asia Expeditions comes with high recommendations from the members of my local club. Bob Kern as well as Safari Outfitters also has had some good things said about them. I'm doing what you are and looking for an ibex hunt. I have settled on the ibex of Mongolia. They are relatively inexpensive and make great trophies. The Gobi ibex can be combined with a gazelle hunt in the Gobi desert, or you can go to the Altai for a bigger version of the Gobi ibex. I am still trying to decide on which species I want. I'm going to have mine done in life-size mounts, they are very impressive that way. Good luck to you.

I've hunted these boys a bit, am working on my world Capra slam. You will find that easily the most economical Ibex hunt is for Gobi in Mongolia. Siberian (also called Altai) in Mongolia are right behind the Gobi in cost. The Ibex hunts in Turkey (Bezoar) are quite a bit more UNLESS, and note this, unless you go with a "lessor" company that produces "lessor" Ibex, i.e. quite a bit smaller. I hope you catch my word of caution there. I've looked at hunting every huntable Ibex in the world, and I think that the only one you can get for real close to $5K including airfare is the Gobi in Mongolia, the Siberian likely being a skosh higher. Can-Asia is a very good company to deal with (Dennis Campbell & Bob Patton). I have no financial ties to them.

Spanish Ibex are quite a bit more, as of course are Himalayan, the good Bezoar, Alpine, Sind. There are some reasonable Mid-Asian Ibex hunts in Kyrgyzstan and Khazahkstan, but you won't get it done for $5000--more like $7000+ time all ends are covered. Mongolia is one of the most enjoyable countries I have hunted in. The other Asian countries are not what I would recommend for first-timers. Spain is rather easy and refined (comparatively), certainly enjoyable, but quite expensive, i.e. most have trophy fees of $6000+ plus a hunt cost of $300-$400 per day. Great animals to hunt, these Ibex.

about two years ago, there were the possibility to hunt ibex in Kirghistan at a 3.6k USD air travel excluded.
With an addition of 900USD were possible to hunt also the siberian roe deer.
I still have some info about if needed.

Mr. Malinverni--Unfortunately, the cost in Kyrgyzstan is now considerably higher. Also, airfare from the USA is considerably higher to Kyrgyzstan than to Mongolia. The Mongolian Ibex hunts are definately the most economical--but that is saying nothing against Kyrgyzstan. Fantastic to hunt there, but it does cost more, about $US1500 - $US2000 more.

Steve, thanks for the suggestion. Would you please send along your additional information. It was my understanding that the Ibex are larger in Kirghistan and the price is equal to the current Mongolian rate for 1 on 1. I think it is OK to post the details here but you may also consider sending a personal message. Cio, Rick

How long have you lived in UB? Are you a native Mongolian, or did you move there? Man, you don't meet a lot of people from UB...

Boise,
to be sure I have to contact the organizer, as soon as I'll have the info I'll send them to you.

Arts,
please call me Steve or Stefano, I prefer. As you can see from the note above I don't know if te prices are the same of two years ago, even if I hope that they are not so far from what I wrote.
