Big but, though. The USF&W has to issue an import CITES permit. They only issue so many, regardless of what the hunting country, Kyrgyzstan in this case, issues. They (Kyrg) will issue a CITES export permit, but unless the USF&W gives the import CITES, you are out of luck. You had best check on that, because another thing is that it's awfully late, quite possibly too late, to get the import permit even if there still are any. Not saying that your hunt is a no go because of this, but that USF&W import CITES permit thing had better be checked into and cleared up before anyone books the hunt. Most people are of the belief that if Kyrg gives you a CITES permit, you are good to go, but that is not true. And the USF&W import permit is only issued after you receive the export permit from the country of origin, and again, remember, the USF&W has a quota. Once it's met, there are no more that year. I would guess that the likelihood is very high that for 2004, the quota have been issued. Most people going for Marco Polo this year already have the permitting process well under way or completed by now. Just a heads up that this needs to be checked into. Kyrgyzstan issueing 2 more permits does not mean that the USF&W will issue 2 more. | ||
