Cant understand hunters to shoot any deer, moose or caribou in velvet. Taste for Trophys are different I know.

Thank you gentlemen!

MBB - I know, not everybody's cup of tea which is okay. I think the same thing when I watch guys shooting deer in velvet on TV, just does not seem like the trophy is "ready" if that makes any sense. As I stated, I was not too excited about getting the mount done, and in fact even when there I was not sure that I was going to shoot one, because of concern about the velvet. Prior to the hunt, I looked into the cost of fake velvet, and talked my taxidermist about staining the antlers and how realistic the outcome would be. I would have rather had a nicely stained set of antlers.

BUT - this hunt was scheduled around the Dall sheep. The caribou was secondary, for the "kill fee" only. I most likely will never hunt the NWT again, and with days left in the hunt, I thought why not. I am very glad I did, as again, the velvet is in amazing condition and is a really nice contrast to the many hard-horned/antlered trophies on the walls.

Bill, very nice NWT bou. The work looks excellent as is the quality of the caribou. Sure would have liked to have those backs on mine but both were missing. They still make an excellent mount. Well done as usual. I would like to make it back again but time is gettin short for that rough country hunting. Certainly some of the most beautiful and untouched country left on our continent.

Not only a beautiful mount, but on a damn good 'bou!! He's a brute!

I need to get up into that north country sometime soon.. I keep putting Africa on the forefront, and the 'bou and such keep getting put on the backburner.. I need to change that!
