I hunted a Bison with Wade Lemon Hunting in Holden Utah this past weekend. I shot a bison last year in Montana. While we really enjoyed the meat the "hunt" was a non-event, it was really a shoot. I was looking for the meat but wanted a little more than shooting the animal being careful not to hit the tractor. While this year's cow was on a feed lot for finishing she had been released the night before we arrived on a 1500 acre fenced (3 strand wire) grazing area that was the typical juniper sage of the south west. The "fence" doesn't seem to hinder a bison's progress and Wade noted that they had gone over 50 miles before they finally caught up with one of them earlier this year. They seem to be a lot more wary in new surroundings. Mine was much easier. We glassed her after about an hour and then stalked up to about 150 yards. Wade has a full service outfit and they have horses ready if the animal starts to move farther or faster than you can walk. In the end it is a meat hunt but quite a bit more enjoyable than the Montana shoot. I had hunted cow elk with Lemon 3 years ago on public land and had a very enjoyable couple of days . This, while shorter, was no different. I would recommend this outfit to anyone. He has a web site http://www.wadelemonhunting.com/

Russ, Glad you had a good harvest but Wade Lemon has a VERY bad reputation around some parts of Utah and I sure as hell wouldn't hunt with him. From what I saw this year, he and his guys were cutting roads for lion tracks about 24 hours per day and when we happened upon one of his employees at about 5:00 am they had "accidentally" (and illegally) had some dogs escape. Not coincidentally, they took what I heard was a decent tom from that same area later in the morning. THAT PISSED ME OFF! I am also pretty sure they woke the hunter up at the local motel when the cat was treed (also illegal) as his employee was the only one in the truck when we saw him. While Utah Lion tags are "either sex", Wade also has a reputation for having eastern hunters shoot whatever gets treed. How he looks a hunter in the face and tells him his cat is a trophy when it has spots on its rump or is about 6 feet long is beyond me! This last bit of information is not rumour, this is from an aquaintance in the Utah Wildlife Resources office. I passed up two females we treed this year so far and I am almost certain Wade's clients picked up my leftovers and were told they were trophy cats. Wade Lemon will never see dime one of my money for ANY species. JMHO, JohnTheGreek
