Dear all, Last month I went to the Granada region in South Spain to hunt for Sierra Nevada ibex with one of our client. The client had already hunted the Gredos Ibex in November 2012 and he was looking forward to hunt the Sierra Nevada specie. We had booked 2 tags for him and we planned on staying three days. We got there on November 22nd 2013, our spanish colleague picked us up at the airport and we sent straight to the mountain to start our hunt. We got here in the afternoon and the fog started to come. We spotted some females and young males but nothing shootable. It started to rain after 2 hours as the light was coming down so we decided to go back to the hotel. Animals would not move until the next morning. The next day we got to the mountains at 8AM as the sun was starting to show up, the day was clear with no cloud. It could not be better for hunting § The temperature was around 3 degres Celcius. We saw a lot of animal that morning and we decided to go after one nice male that we spotted at 500 meters from the dirt road where we left the car. After a short stalk we got into position. The goat was laying under the sun and did not see us. We got to 140 meters from him. The hunter put a perfect bullet in the heart with a Browning 7RM and a Leica scope. It was a nice gold medal which scored 254 CIC points. After the usual pictures and moment of joy, we went back to the car to go to another valley. After a 15 minutes drive we got into a big valley where we started to spy for "macho montes". We quickly spotted a group of males where there was an old animal. Again stalked for one hour in order to get into position. We had to wait for the goat to stand up and after a few minutes it stood up. The hunter shot a bullet at 166 meters, again, in the heart. This one was bigger that the first one, it scored 260 CIC points. Very nice! On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch... Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! - Rudyard Kipling Life grows grim without senseless indulgence. | |||
