hey, in the Cz you may find evrey kind of european game , but its hard to find them all in one place. The (huntable) game thats there to find is: Roes Reds Fallows Sikas ! Wild boars Mufflons and smal game like pheasant geese and duck too. The CZ, is one of the best Mufflons area in Europe. But the biggest trophies where harvested in fenced areas. I think most of the US Hunters wont have a problem with this, instead of much german hunters. I was last year near Praha for a weekend (not hunting)in CZ, and took the chance to get a view on such fenced area,...this particular area was about 100 Ha by size(and not 1000ha as they tried to make me believe),..and you could see the fallows walking arround and calling (in Novenmeber they do have rut season)for the deers. But to be honest, its not the kind of hunt ill apreciate. they are used to humans (in this fenced area the house of the "game warden" was placed, so the game knows humans, and arent wild) (after my definition). The Prices for hunts are not realy cheap...if u are interested in some information, you may like to contact a big european hunting office : 1) from denmark: www.diana.dk 2) from germany: www.kettner.de (kettner is something like cabelas). Anyhow, the best chances on reds and sikas and fallow stags are , when they in the rut. The popular way to hunt stags in europe is with a guide on a stalk or from a highstand in the rut. The rut is approx: roes: June/july for roes reds : Okotber/september fallows: Oktober/November and mufflones: November but better is December (if u lke a shoulder mount, the hair quality in december is better). But the rut-season i gave u above may deferr in the different areas , depending on things like alltitude ( Praha is about 1300meters over normal 0) and weather. Best weather for rut is: cold, no rain, and not windy. When its get warm you wont hear the stags calling...sometimes they wont call at all. If u like to hunt on stags, be sure to go there in the rut. You cant compare it to elk rut (which are whistel)..the european red stags do have an enourmous call. I try to find a link...wait a minute....: http://www.deer-uk.com or directly to the small films and sounds, take this link. http://www.deer-uk.com/Video%20&%20Sounds.htm or http://www.uni-koblenz.de/~odsgroe/rothirbl.htm for the reds If i can give u a hand or if u have furtherquestions,...just ask for. Hope i could have give u some infos cheers Konstantin [ 02-06-2003, 22:01: Message edited by: konst#1 ]

quote:Konstantin, not to be harsh, but your comment about MOST American hunters not having a problem shooting an animal in a cage is pure bullshit. 100 hectares is roughly 220 acres. That's just simply disgusting, and I would demand my money back if that's what i was presented as a fair chase hunt. Hell, I'd refuse even if it were 1000 Ha. To each his own, I guess. Your backhand comment that German hunters are somehow more ethical than Americans is unfounded. You need to learn more about us before you make dumb statements like that.

Hey KSDuckhunter, it wasnt my intention to be unpolite or anything like that,...but a lot of people told me , that american hunters dont have a problem with hunting in such fenced area. Good to hear that u wont hunt there too. cheers konst#1

Konst, it seems we just have a misunderstanding. No big deal. Just to set the record straight, there are some ranches in the US, particularly in Texas, that have high fences where game can't escape. The BIG difference is the area encircled by the fence. Those ranches in Texas can easily cover 40,000 to 50,000 acres (~18,000 to 22,000 Ha), sometimes a lot more. The animals there don't know they live behind a fence. [ 02-09-2003, 03:26: Message edited by: ksduckhunter ]
