I got drawn for archery this fall, but I used a service and for some reason they lost my unit preference and drew me in units 1 & 2. This unforunately is not where my friends unit is, his is in 15, and he guided outfit fee for me was $0. He has consistently takes 158-185 class deer over the last 3 years.

So, now I need to find a relatively low cost guide or outfitter in units 1 or 2 to justify doing the hunt. I have had prices quoted in the several thousand dollar range for 140 class deer. I can get these for free in Texas. So, it's a tough call if I even use my tag.

Suggestions?

I don't personally, but you would most likely have more success getting info at Bowsite.com. Either use the general deer hunting forum or go to state specific forums.

I can't help you with respect to the outfitter. However, I think leftover permits will be available July 14th. If they have any left for 15 you may be able to get one or even convince KDWP to trade.

There aren't as many deer out that far west but I think you have a good chance of the quality of buck you are looking for out there.

You could also get a WIHA (Walk In Hunting Area) map to see how much land is availible out there. I just tried the KDWP website and it was down.

I think I would complain bitterly to "the service" as it appears you got hosed.
