From the Hunting Report George Sevich Resurfaces (posted August 02, 2007) The more than 20 Hunting Report subscribers who have filed complaints about deposits and hunting fees owed to them by George Sevich will be glad to know that we have located him in Frederick, Maryland. You'll recall that Sevich disappeared a year ago, leaving numerous clients in the lurch. Some had paid deposits for hunts that never occurred. Others did not receive their trophies from previous hunts. Word was that Sevich had experienced severe family problems and gone into seclusion. We now know Sevich has resurfaced, thanks to an anonymous call from an individual who said he knew where Sevich is currently working and that it troubled him to see him "driving around in a fancy sports car and living in a big house when he owes so much money to so many people." The caller gave us Sevich's work number, which happens to be a communications station at the Ft. Dietrich army base. We called and spoke directly with Sevich. We told him we were going to inform subscribers of his whereabouts, and he offered to e-mail us a letter explaining his circumstances and providing all of the new contact information where hunters may reach him. He promised to have the letter to us early next week. As soon as we receive his e-mail, we will issue another E-mail Extra Bulletin providing Sevich's contact details and post the information to our web site. Seloushunter Nec Timor Nec Temeritas

Part 2 from the Hunting Report Update On George Sevich (posted August 10, 2007) The more than 20 Hunting Report subscribers who have filed complaints about deposits and hunting fees owed to them by George Sevich will be interested to know that we have been in touch with him again since our bulletin last week telling you where he is and what he is doing. Unfortunately, he is not being very forthcoming, as witness the e-mail below which he sent us this morning - after we called and reminded him that he had promised to send us a note this week giving his contact details and spelling out how he was going to make things right with the many clients he is said to have hurt. Indeed, Sevich simply disappeared about a year ago, you'll recall, leaving a large number of mostly American clients in the lurch for hunting fees and unshipped trophies. Our reader forum devoted to the problem attracted more than 20 comments, all but one of them from disgruntled clients. A quick reading of the forum this morning indicates that the 20-some clients who commented claim they have been defrauded of $183,500. That is just the sums mentioned in the forum, mind you. Some commentators did not bother to mention a sum. Others indicated they have unspecified amounts (many thousands of dollars, surely) tied up in trophies they have not received. The actual amount of claimed damage may well be a half million dollars, perhaps more. Here at The Hunting Report, we have watched scandals like this break over the international hunting community with dismaying regularity in recent years, almost always with no real consequences for the alleged perpetrators. We have come to believe these unresolved scandals are very bad for hunting, as they erode the basic confidence individuals need to send money overseas. International hunting, after all, is not conducted with safeguards such as Letters Of Credit and Guaranty Bonds. Ultimately, most individuals who book international hunts do so on the basis of a handshake and a contract that is probably not enforceable internationally. Dry up the basic confidence of international hunters and this business is going to be over, it appears to us. With that in mind, we decided to do some digging today and turned up some facts that may be useful for anyone who wants to try to pursue a claim against George Sevich. First, we know that George Sevich and Anne M. Haldeman are on the property tax rolls in Montgomery County, Maryland, as owner of a home located at 16232 Orchard View Ct., Gaithersburg, MD 20878. The 2,438-square-foot home was built in 1986. It sits on a 14,820-square-foot lot and was valued at $637,800 as of 01/01/07. As we told you last week, he works at a communications station on the Ft. Dietrich Army Base. Presumably, he is a government employee. His work telephone number is 301-619-7411. His e-mail address is: george.ru.mail@gmail.com. Here at The Hunting Report, we'd appreciate being kept in the loop if anyone decides to mount a collection effort. We do know one disgruntled client has already retained a lawyer in Maryland, but we are not ready to pass his name on, as that attorney has not impressed us, or the subscriber who retained him, with his efforts. One way to proceed here is for all disgruntled clients to network their claim. They can do so by going to our forum. All of the commentators there left their e-mail addresses. Good luck! - Don Causey. Seloushunter Nec Timor Nec Temeritas

I am glad to see The Hunt Report taking this on. Those who steal money frm others and hope to disappear into thin iar should not be allowed to benefit from their thift. I would love to know what had happened to some of those PH made famous by SCI - they have given then PH Of The Year awards - who have disappeared with robably millions of money owed to clients.

If this guy is indeed a Govt Employee, a call to his immediate supervisor and the lodging of an official complaint followed by notification of the intent to request for garnishment of his wages will probably break all kinds of hell loose. If he took my money and I had all this contact info, that would be my course of action. May he rot and burn in hell! Mac

To garnish his wages, you'll need to take him to court and get a judgment against him. In that big house my guess would be that he's a contract employee and not a DOD civilian. (or he stole a WHOLE lot of money) Good luck to those who were wronged.
