That is, I hate to say, the reality of Mexico. I was fortunate enough to hunt there a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time but Mexicos' kidnapping rate has skyrocketed.

The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

YOu have to think that most kidnapping happen in and arounfd the big cities. I have not heard of one case where a tourist (that was not looking for trouble by ignoring safety recomendations) was kidnapped.

Lets see, when I lived there, one friend had his car stolen, a friend visiting my next door neighbor had his car stolen at gun point, some friends kids had their motorcycle stolen at knife point, another friend had his vehicle hijacked and stolen at gun point. None of these people were looking for trouble. Then of course there were the more minor routine thefts.

Mexico is a dangerous country. If you think it's a civilized country, you're living in La La Land. It's generally against the law to own guns in Mexico and there is no death penalty. A perfect example of what liberals would like to make the U.S.A. into.

The only reason to travel to Mexico these days is if you can take 25 illegals back with you.

Montes,
You obviously haven't been watching the news around deer season. Just last year a dad and son were kidnapped b/c the Mex. landowner's son was apparently involved with drugs. The drug guys came by looking for their money and took everyone with them. Thankfully the Americans were let go after about a week but the rancher was not.

Mexico, never again, no more. Our most corrupt Southern neighbor will get no more of my money. Getting shaken down by Mexican Police, Federales and the F*****g Mexican army, all to line their damn pockets while they send their poverty stricken hoards to the US to sponge off of our system. Build the FENCE.

Yea, I'm afraid since I lived there 8 years and know how things really are. I'm not going to hunt in Zimbabwe, Azerbaijan, etc. either. I'll pick a little more civilized venues.

Mexico is not, however our most corrupt southern neighbor. There are a number of others that are just as corrupt.

Kechutti,
You need to get some more posts under your belt on this forum before you can presume to know what I am "affraid" of.
You don't have the first clue where I've been or what I've done. Hunting or otherwise.

I was stationed on the Arizona/Mexico border. I went there plenty when I was single. I know full well the corruption that runs rampant there. I flat refuse to take my family to Mexico. I know that hordes of Americans go there all the time. But like all good capitalist we Americans can't seam to pass up a supposed bargain.

I do not see the bargain in going to a lawless country and having my ability to defend myself and family stripped from me.

I will not give one dime of my income to that hole of a country. It's bad enough that sections of Arizona look way to much like Mexico now.

let's not just pick on Mexico. Most of Central america fits the same mould. My son was in Trinidad, a couple of years ago and the term Civilization definitely does not apply there. Murders are a daily occurrence, drug dealing is a way of life and police corruption goes to the very top. This, to top it off, is a country, where you can get a couple of years in jail, for merely possesing a cartridge or two.

I was in Sonora a few months ago on business. It's filthy, the people live in shacks, and it's dangerous to boot. I'm thankful to live in Dixie but we need to build a fence pronto, there are areas of Georgia now that look like Mexico. I work in Roswell and every morning on the way to work I sit in traffic and watch the hordes of illegals hang around on the streets. The crime rate here has skyrocketed with their arrival, they have brought their "civilization and culture" up North with them. Enough already. Build a fucking wall, round 'em up and ship all of their asses back to the shithole they came from.

I am with you on the wall. And the crime. We do not need them or want them, send 'em back.

Robert Mugabe is an amateur compared to the institutionalized corruption prevalent in Mexico. I go there about once every 10 years just to remind myself to never go back again.

We had another Phoenix police officer killed in the line of duty yesterday. He was shot and killed by a 22 year old Mexican illegal alien.

The killer had been deported once before for a gun violation.

J.D Hayworth reported on his talk radio program today that: of the last 7 officers killed in the line of duty in Phoenix, 5 where killed by illegal aliens.

Build the fence! Call your politicians, and deport these pieces of garbage back the their stink hole country.

When Blaser93 post "Be Careful in México", I suppouse that sooner or later could be concluded with some useful advice to whom go out to enjoy Hunting.
The anger, hate and reject to everery body south of the border from people like 458Lottfan, ForrestB and others could be better have a space in the Political Forum.
What is next? to build a dome? and later a coastal fence? That, will be a Jail.
No. I understand that when you receive the advice "Becareful" you must be prepared and informed but be respectful about culture, religión and customs when travel to any place, be it Alaska or China, Pakistan or Canada, Africa or Australia.
Be careful when you send your son to the college or when you drive over a bridge or under a storm. Becareful.

Maybe the US should just adopt Mexico's immigration enforcement policies and its practices on the treatment of both legal and illegal aliens.

Being careful? When it's the police and the army how do you be careful? There are some fantastic people in Mexico, Mexico is an incredible country, but the Gov't is run by CORRUPT politicians ( even more corrupt than ours ). The army is run by corrupt Generals. Don't spend your money to support them or their regimes. When you spend money in Mexico all you are doing is lining the pockets of the Government. And financing Mexico's continued, failed, policies.

I've been to Mexico hunting many times but it is mostly off my list now. Their prices have gone up, the chances of being a victim of a serious crime or being incarcerated legally or illegally by the locals has skyrocketed. Leave ONE .22 or .38 bullet in you car.....hell, my truck might have a couple of dozen down the vent holes.....and you can be thrown into jail with bribery (la mordida) being your only chance to get out. And, I know someone who can testify that being in a Mexican jail is not like some of our "country club" jails.

In all the times I was there, we never had any serious problems, but I used to speak pretty decent Spanish, like and liked the people and understood that the policia and Federales held ALL the cards. The chances of encoutering problems now is multiples of when I was there last.

Dove hunting.....by the time you count the risks, the outrageous costs the government imposes, etc.....Argentina is a bargain.

OTOH, I'll be the first to admit, if you've really got the right contacts and they've got the right contacts it can be a lot of fun, but you'd better be damn sure the ones you have are "in" before you go.

Mi opinion, Chinga Mexico!

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Its hard to defend a position that so many people feel so strongly about. I like Mexicans and I like Mexico. Mexicans are just as much as part of the heritage of my state as Americans are. The problem is, I'm sick to death of dodging illegals when I drive, listening to their gibberish language when I walk down the street, and being taxed to death to provide Medicaid for them so they can use the "free" county hospitals. I live in a town 30,000 and the Mexicans have turned their part of town in a damned demilitarized zone complete with rapings, killings, and lots of gang activity. That's the Mexican culture we Americans see...ain't it great?? Why can't you people assimilate into our culture and learn the language like everyone else that came to America did? I understand that most immigrants are up here to work and its hard to me to find fault in someone who just wants to work. But damn it, this isn't Mexico - stop trying to make it just like home or GO BACK HOME.

Rant off.

My mother's first cousin is a VP of a large American corporation. He was mugged at gunpoint in front of THE AMERICAN EMBASSY not that long ago. The Marines watched but couldn't do anything because he wasn't on embassy property though that's where he was walking to from parking his rent car.
