Pictures of two bears taken this past May in Kamchatka. One was an honest 9' and the other 9.5'.

For the last few years the hunting pressure has been minimal so a good good opportunity to target some big bears. They saw a lot of bears and could have shot 2 each had they wanted.

On another note this is also in the area where clients of mine shot some very big moose. The outfitter has acquired another area 900 sw miles of wilderness and when scouting they saw a number of huge bulls. With the price of American brown bear and moose hunts, i believe Russia is the place to go!

I am sure once things die down on the war front the flood gates will open. If you want to experience true wilderness Russia is the last frontier.

What were the skull sizes ?

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

most of the trophies are not measured by skull and more under the size of the skin under CIC rules. skulls mean more but maybe Arjun can chimes in.

Go right ahead! Make Putin's day! More American hostages to swap for Russian criminals jailed in the West. What sort of patriotic American would consider such a hunt?
Sorry Arjun, but this is just wrong.

Been on 6 bear hunts in Alaska with a rifle (only 2 successes) and watched the prices tripled. Having thrown away/fucked out of $30K from "Mr 10 footer" in '21 I'd go in a heart beat. Can you hunt them with a bow? The opportunity to truly (circumnavigate) fly around the world would be a neat perc as well.

Arjun, Congrats to the hunters! Have you got more details on these hunts (for when things cool down!). Would be interested to get details.

Thanks.

Phil I do not know the skull sizes I will try and find out.

Charlie64, to get there you fly to Kamchatka via Moscow or Novosibirsk, from there drive 7 hours to Esso. Spend the night and fly by helicopter to camp. Its a snow mobile hunt, you can take 2 bears if you wish. The camp is very nice and has wifi, good food, generators etc. 10' bears do exist but expect 8.5 to 9"+ The prices are way cheaper than AK and I believe the general success rate is higher. I do have to say though if you want a 10' bear then AK is probably a better bet in the right areas.

Who knows what the price will be in a year or 2 or 3 and when the war will end!

Pom I see you are assuming these are Americans, maybe not!!

The number of International hunters going to Russia is certainly down and when things quieten down and more people start going again i think they will find the hunting to be exceptional given that there hasn't been much pressure the last few years. Apart from bear they have also seen a lot of big moose in a new area they have just gotten the hunting rights.

Russia is a beautiful wild country and the local people I met were all friendly and happy to see hunters. In the sticks they are rough, hardy people, pussys are long gone! And its remote with ZERO back up if things go south! I have stood on a beach on the Okhotsk sea where the outfitter had never been and probably no one had ever set foot. When we got there the sea was calm, 2 days later a huge storm hit us and we were trapped there for 5 more days. One night the ocean came up like a tsunami and swamped our tent and nearly destroyed it when a huge block of floating ice hit the side of the tent knocking it over. I could write a book about that hunt!!

Some of it was on the edge! But looking back what incredible memories.

Well Im not long back from a Bear hunt in Siberia for Eastern Siberian Brown Bear. Oh what a great hunt it was. The most interesting and best organised hunt I've ever been on. My hunter took two bears' wolf and at the end of the hunt we flew back to Moscow,travelled,300 ks north and took a Capercaile and Black cock.Apon return went for a tour in Moscow and travelled in there underground metro system. The Russian people were just so happy to have us there and wow we had a great and never to forget time. I will be back in October with 2 hunters for Moose. But the first thing I did when we arrived in Moscow was to visit Red Square. Straight after that we walked some 4/500 yards and had lunch in a Ukrainian restaurant full of Russian people as well. While in Red Square I had a photo taken so I could send it back home to all the Nancy men who wear frilly pants are to scared to travel outside there backyard and tried to tell me all sorts of rubbish about what will happen to me..Oh hell Im still laughing at them. Come on October.!!!!!!!!!!

Arjun,

Is it possible to bring my own rifle into Russia?

I was told it is not possible but others say it is.

How about the hassle of doing so?

Thanks!

It is a bit of a hassle, I have done it twice myself. But may not be the best thing to do at the moment. The outfitter has v good rifles, with good scopes etc.
Thanks,
Arjun

Couple of my friends went last year
They were stoked nd each got two, rifles were very good and god optics, they also got awesome moose as well
When it comes to hunting, if we based that on politics, we’d be hunting nowhere
Just look at Africa, it’s a mess and we all still go and rightfully so and we support those guys there on the ground

Pom, eat your heart
