Reddy375,

Punjab recently joined Haryana in allowing the occasional Nilgai hunts on crop protection permits. Apparently a Panchayat has to request permission from a DFO to get land owners permission and the hunts are very strictly monitored.

You may be aware that Chhatisgarh has permitted non Indians to hunt Wild Boar (or Black Boar to use Indian official terminology) in 2004 though no licenses were issued in 2005. If you're still an Indian citizen or PIO, it should not be a problem at all doing a hunt when you visit India next.

BTW there is a very active Indian RKBA group on the net and we are trying to form a public trust to work for more gun friendly laws. If you guys would like to join, let me know and I'll ask Abhijeet Singh to send you an invitation. The whole idea is based on the closed group that we worked on very briefly last year - Rustam, Sat, Vikram etc are very active along with some ex servicemen. A nice group if you want to join.

You have my mail ID if you want to discuss this offline.

Cheers,

Mehul Kamdar

Is the ban on hunting toally a conservation move or does religion play a part in this

However faulty, the ban on hunting has no religious motives here.By the time when total ban was imposed, the tiger population almost reached extinction. That the ban led to a different scenario is another debatable issue.

HI Mehul and the gang,
sorry it took me a while to get here-am briefly hijacked by lures and jigs and 7 foot medium action rods... to temporarily forget that I have a 450/400J at home ...
Your post of march says haryana and Punjab have opened on Nilgai-would help if we get any sort of official paperwork on this...
Best
Asif

Sorry Hogdeer,
But there's no hunting in India! You guys are lucky that you have legal hunting in Pakistan-hence the subject line-when there's hunting next door, (pakistan) why dont we Indians wake up!!
