Well here is a brief report on the hunt hunt with CHC. Randall is a very nice guy. The cabin is a little better than I expected for a rough cabin was a basic cabin. The hunt for me did not go well I did not see any gobblers and no pigs at any of the feeders. I was mostly wanting turkeys. The second day we got rained out so I came home. With out a shot being fired. The other party left Saturday night had some issues that came up and they had to leave . They also went empty handed. Kirk did get and hit on a Gobbler but lost it. Not sure what the issue was , weather or just not the right locations or lack of turkeys but the game was sparse. In total I heard one gobbler, seen one hen running and a group of hogs which where running, oh yes one whitetail doe. Larry Elk88101

Many Thanks for the report Larry. You gave a fair and honest report of how this weekend went and I do appreciate it. Yes, it is great when a person passes along information about a successful hunt where everyone killed everything they were after and had a great time. Reality is however not everyone does have a successful hunt and I personally feel that folks need to report on those hunts also. As a hunter I like being successful and as a guide I enjoy seeing my clients be successful. Again reality is that doesn't always happen. I could list all kinds of reasons why the trip was not more successful, all of them valid, but to me they would sound like excuses. For me at least, as a guide, whether it is with paying clients or family or friends, it is frustrating in the extreme when none of those people are seeing game or making kills. Larry, Thank You for posting the report and I enjoyed having you as a client, just wished the critters would have been more cooperative. Randall

2 guys at one feeder, 1 hunter at another feeder. The hog hunting was somewhat peripheral to the turkey hunt. In covering a fair amount of country side over the weekend there was very little game movement. I believe Larry got a glimpse of one hen turkey running thru the brush, and it did not come to the feeder. Total over the two days, all of us, myself included saw only two or 3 deer, I saw one hen turkey late in the day on Saturday, most likely returning to her nest and on Sunday morning we saw the sounder of 6 good sized sows and a dozen or so small piglets feeding out in one of the wheat fields. After Larry left, Lora and I made a 12 to 15 mile loop around the properties checking rainfall amounts, and we saw a grand total of two cottontails and 3 does. I have no idea why game was not moving. There are any numbers of possibilities and combinations of factors as to why the turkeys and hogs were not moving. There is no need for me to list my hypotheses as they will only sound like excuses. As I say, with 45 years of hunting experience on my own/as a client and as a guide, reality is not every hunt ends successfully, that is why I make no guarantees. Even the rocks don't last forever.

CHC---There is one big excuse and it's called "That's hunting!" If it was a slam dunk, it wouldn't be any fun.

Sir, I am more than happy to have you come back at any time. You gave a fair and honest report. I do not consider your report as being critical. From all the conversations that went on during the time you were here, you are an experienced hunter and you accept the concept that things don't always work out for the best. Hunting is hunting and things simply do not always work out. You showed me that you understand that concept and I appreciate your honesty and candor more than any false praise another person might give. As I said in response to 505, I make no guarantees, Robert makes no guarantees on the hunts we offer. Even during the period from 1998 till 2011 when I was doing the javelina hunts in west Texas, even though my clients consistently had a 98 to 100 percent success rate, I did not ever guarantee my hunts. I am not going to make excuses. I have no idea why the turkeys and pigs were not moving. Wished I did, it would make my life easier, especially since we have more clients booked over the next few weeks. Some of them, all of them or none of them, maybe or will/will not be successful I do not know. All I can do is the best I can but I have no control over animal/bird movement, wished I did, butt hat ain't realistic. I really do appreciate your report Larry, if for no other reason, it will let potential clients know why I give them the advice I do concerning the hunts I offer. Even the rocks don't last forever.

TopGun, Thank You. It is refreshing to see that some folks understand that. Larry tried and I did the best I could. This was one of those times when things simply did not work out. Even the rocks don't last forever.
