Hunted there three times when CM ran it. Beautiful hilly area with excellent buffalo. Well priced for a quality area and not as hot as the Zambezi valley.

Did a hunt there in July, lots of Dugga boy sign. We burned several big areas at the end of my hunt so the new green grass will be a magnet for the buffalo.

"It will be hot."

That's what keeps me from jumping on one of these great deals. A hunt is supposed to be a fun adventure. Hunting in 90 degree plus weather is not what I consider fun. Someone will get a great deal if they don't mind the heat.

I've hunted Makuti twice with CMS. Once in October, 2010. It's not that hot. I much prefer it to hunting in a place where I'm freezing my butt off, but I digress. On that 2010 hunt, we moved up to Dande in the valley after 4 days. The valley IS HOT. I actually love it that time of year, being from Texas. I'm leaving for Dande again in a little over 4 weeks. Someone should jump on this hunt deal!!

Makuti definitely cooler than the Valley that time of year and I have hunted both during the second half of October. Get some cheap Wal-Mart fans and a bunch of D cell batteries to help sleep at night along with some Froggie towels to keep cool. Drink plenty of water and take some regular rests breaks in the shade and you will be fine. It's a dry heat. The vegetation has dropped for better visibility and the game is concentrating around water, so the hunting conditions are such that you have a better chance of taking a real monster. I am sure Lin will also have some plains game left on license you can take. These hunts are not going to get any cheaper and the airfare during the offseason is also lower. I am getting ready to flee California for Texas otherwise I would be all over this.

It is a medical fact that as we humans with northern hemisphere genetic backgrounds age, we become more susceptible to dehydration.

This is because of the simple reason that we don’t feel thirsty.

So, we must force ourselves to drink water, ideally with added electrolytes, in copious quantities as regularly as clockwork.

That is the key to beating the heat anywhere.

But I know from experience that it is easier said than done.

I have experienced exactly this. The regular fluids intake, with or without Electrolytes, makes a huge difference. Sufficiently hydrated one copes with both heat and walking all or most of the day. Conversely, becoming dehydrated happens without being apparent and is a dangerous condition.

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

Ray,
Be careful, you may be "from" Texas but you have been in the cool climate of Idaho for many years. Your years of being used to the heat are long over.
We have had 50 days over 100 F, 20 days over 105F in July - Aug and now Sept. Today we will see 107F

You spend an hour or so in this heat at your age (or mine) and you will be in a trouble. Age blinds us to the needs of our bodies for fluids. Be careful.

90F may be cakewalk at age 45 but not at age 80, no matter who you are. Be careful....

This is the kind of deal you jump on if you're waiting for a late season buff special: Really good area with a great outfit.

And you never know what else might still be on quota when you get there, especially if you're the last hunter coming in for the season.

Even better if Lin is the PH.
