Just $50K and all of a 4 day hunt. The best deal of the year. And the most knowledgeable agent on the planet to boot. I'll take two.

Notice, too, that it is a 49.5" buff, not one of those lesser, 49.25" yearling bulls. You'll probably drive by mere 49" bulls all day.

I'll bet there's a 50" bull available....for the right price.

Guys,

It's just an ad. If you don't like the hunt offered or Aaron don't buy the hunt. Bashing the ad serves no purpose that I can see.

Actually, bashing ads can be quite entertaining.

Heck, I have been known to take a swing now and then.

Aaron is a big boy, and I'm sure he can take it.

If he can't there are one way venues to advertise hunts; places where there is no peanut gallery with which to contend.

Good luck with selling the hunt, and let the comedy continue!

the only way I know of to know 49.5" from a 47-48-49 incher is to put him in a squeeze chute, like we do cattle here for vaccinations, etc, and put a tape on him.

That smells like a canned hunt to me, personally.

But, you could pony up the 50K, and make up a good story on the return flight...

Aaron does not deserve this and you all should check your bias at the door. He has shared a lot of his experience here. No one here has more lion experience than Aaron.

Guys, lay off, he is a good guy and working to make a living. Anyone who has hunting in South Africa much has hunted "high fence" whether you admit it or not, so lets not throw stones here.

20,000 acres is big enough and I bet Mr. 49 1/2 is just as mean and nasty as any other bull. I would never pay 50K for a hunt like this but I am glad there are guys/gals who will. Prices such as this guarantees that buffalo will survive and by the way, PH Clayton Comins of Umdende Safaris in Zululand was just recently tossed and badly injured(broken leg, lots of stitches) by one of these game ranch RSA buffalo bulls. This bull had been shot in the stomach by poachers so they also have some of the same issues as the wild areas. Buffalo are always dangerous, especially the tame ones. Good luck selling this hunt.

It should be the same as in the Classifieds, if someone doesn't have something positive to contribute, then keep your Fing mouth shut. Very poor form.

perhaps he might have been better advised to just post this hunt as a "check our website for a Cape Buffalo special...".

Anything anyone posts here for public consumption wants a response. Else, it is a waste of time and electrons.

As an aside, everyone who posted on this thread felt free to "bash" anyone they disagreed with, me especially. And, I am not selling anything...

haha, by getting negative conversation going, you're actually doing Mr Neilson a favor by keeping this hunt at the top of the list :-)

yes knowing the bulls size sounds like he has probably been through a chute, but i'm sure he isn't the only wild animal to go through a chute and remain ugly.

not a hunt for the common man, but there are a lot of uncommon (in a good way) people that visit the site so hopefully someone takes aaron up on the offer and enjoys themselves

there's something missing in a hunt that is not "Fair Chase". This is a money can get you in the record books, as long as the truth does not get out.

I wonder how much extra $$$ to get the bull into a 20'x20' enclosure would cost.

But that is just me. Every man has to draw the line somewhere for his own personal hunting standards.

10 Gen,

this not a hunt. A hunt is where you go out, search for an animal, locate one, and then decide if it meets your standards as a true trophy.

This is kind of early, isn't it, gentlemen?
I thought you'd have all waited until the buffalo was shot and a hunt report posted and then let the attack begin?

Personally, I think the owner of the buffalo, if pre measured at an exact 49 1/2", should wait a year or two until the tape stretched to 50" and then increased the price substantially.

I asked my PH a couple days ago, and none of the game animals on the places we hunted were ever put in a chute and measured for pricing or any other reason.

This is more along the lines of a petting zoo.

This is an interesting scenario, and the responses are very illuminating in terms of gauging a man's limits in what he will do to shoot, not hunt, a trophy bull.

Especially someone who would test his mettle by shooting a buff eight or ten times and chase him all day...

Phillip,

I note that you are in RSA. My hunts there, whatever 245,000 hectares is. Have you ever taken a shooter out to a specific spot where you knew a specific animal would be? Have you ever purchased an animal at auction for the specific purpose of coaxing a shooter into paying thousands of dollars for a canned type of shoot? Have you ever selected animals for the same purpose?

I know pretty much how the game is played in RSA, thank you.

If this type of shoot appeals to any of you, pay up and go. Just don't come back and tell us all of grueling ten to twelve hour days under the African sun and how hard you worked, how many miles you walked, or any other BS.

Hunting Ethics, that whole concept of "Fair Chase" are sure taking a beating here...

I would also like to know where there is a 900 square mile hunting preserve in South Africa? or to put in other terms 600,000+ acres....

I was under the impression that Blaauwkrantz had the single largest continuos piece of hunting property at 92,000 acres...which would be about 35,000 hectars

Now there you go again, Rich. It never was a lie other than what you posted a few years ago.. You bragged at one time about a number larger than 20 of 325" or 350" elk you shot. We all had a big laugh at that and you later retracted that "mis-statement" when a few folks called you out on it.

Now you jump on Aaron, a guy who is only offering this hunt. You do not have to go, but someone may. That is none of your business honestly.

If you want to talk ethics or fair chase, start another thread. Of all folks that post here, you should know that.

I almost never post because of behavour like yours. Your childish attacks, churlish comments and threats are not needed or appreciated by most here. Maybe that is why folks diss you and poke at you.

Let it go and offer substance instead of insult or cheap shot.

Aaron, apologies for how you are being treated here. Consider the source.

I've had my differences with Aaron over the years, but never over shit like this. We've always seemed to move past it as gentlemen.

It's an offered hunt, if you don't like it or simply can't afford it, just don't click on the thread.

most likely and old breeding bull some one paid a lot of money for to get size back in the gene pool-- lost due to many years of hunters shooting for large heads

now it's time to change him out for fresh genetics

dont buy it if you cant afford it--- but don't belittle a guy trying to get some salvage out of a large investment he made to make the buffalo genetics more complete-- horns bigger-- enhance the old genetics--- medigate 50 years of all of us shooting only the big ones

that's just a guess--- and it's my guess

data over emotion -- we call it science

there is a hell of a lot going on in south africa ---that us guys--- do not want to be against

Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win----

I guess i could add something about being--- a real man-- on a real hunt-- in wild africa

it has been argued that the game farm cape buffalo [particularly old breeding bulls] not much afraid of human presence-- are much more likly to stand and charge at ranges that offer 2-3 seconds-- to get him stopped

what do folks here think about that--- could you do it if you had to-- if this is true what would be your backup plan--- the stopping rifle --- your recoil recovery cycle time

would you learn to shoot-- straight-- fast and consistent ---and run the repeater end of your bolt action rifle -- or would you just slop out of the truck and fire away

always several points of view--- key is to be broad minded enough to soak up an education--- while there is time to prepare

Anyway it matters not, because my experience always has been that of---- a loss of snot and enamel on both sides of the 458 Win----
