Will any of the outfitters on this site be at the Dallas Safari Convention? If so, please send me your location there.

I am looking for a cow elk hunt, preferably in Southeastern Colorado or Northeastern New Mexico, or a black bear hunt.

If those don't work out another consideration would be a moose hunt in Maine.

Thanks and look forward to talking to you there.

There will be outfitters offering both of the hunts you describe. One outfitter I'm familiar with that offers cow elk hunts is Red Canyon Ranch (but I haven't hunted with them).
One of my neighbors offers cow elk hunts in Texas on a pretty big ranch (other animals, too) but their cow elk hunts are reasonable). They have a ranch in SE Colorado, too. Cotton Mesa Whitetails is the name of the ranch and they will be at DSC as well.

One factor to remember is that elk are considered exotics in Texas and there fore can be hunted year round. Cool weather is naturally preferred. Depending upon ranch size and terrain, such hunts can be fun without being a "turkey shoot". Plus some such ranches provide game retrieval from the field and pre processing services.
On the ranch where I shot this cow, the cows were much more difficult to hunt than the big bulls:

For bear, at reasonable rates, I would look at Bar C Outfitters in Idaho or North Country Outfitters in Patten, ME.

I doubt if either will be at DSC, but they can be found on line.

As an update, I have heard from one source that the B Bar C needs to be checked out thoroughly before booking a hunt.

I have hunted with North Country in Patten, ME twice and have my third hunt booked for this year.

They have something over a 70% returning client rate.
