Big Texas Free Range Aoudad Hunts

Hi all my name is Mike McKinny from www.westtexashuntorg.com (I own and opperate the site). I Guide/Outfit hunts on over half a dozen ranches in west Texas
for big free range Trophy Aoudad rams (and other species), success rates are nearly 100%. Guided and Semi guided hunts even self Guided are available just depending on your
budget or choice of hunting. Most hunts are physically challenging although some ranches are more "gentle" in terrain and we have feeders running or natural
springs to set up on. Shots are typically at longer distances (300 to 450 yards) so be prepaired and a good bonded bullet and rifle in the .270 cal range or larger
is highly recommended.

We will primarily hunt for a ram in the 30" to 33" range and rams upwards and over 35 inches are taken each year. A 28" ram and larger is considered a
nice Trophy by most. Hunts are 3 days and simple lodging and meals will be provided on guided hunts. I offer 1x1 guided hunts or 2x1 guided hunts. I can usually take
up to a group of 4 on most ranches and have very experienced guides who are respectful and knowledgable. All hunts include free predators and 1 javelina on ranches
with Javelina.

I hunt Aoudad from mid September (pre rut) October (rut) through early March/possibly April right before it starts heating up again. September/October hunts will be on the warm side.
We do not do many hunts during mid November through mid December due to our Whitetail and Mule deer season in full swing.
Price range starts at $1795 for an economical guided hunt up to $3495 for our Hueco ranch. Our better trophy hunts run $2795 to $2895 on ranches producing the biggest rams most consistantly.

Locations are mainly in the heart of the Big Bend/Trans Pecos part of the state (Presidio, Terlingua, and Van Horn). Our easier to hunt ranches are located on or near the Devils
river (also very scenic).

Right now I have an opening for up to 2 hunters for the Rancho Consuelo for September 14th-16th 2012 hunt cost is $2895 per for this hunt and this will be the first
hunt of the "season" on this ranch.

1 other opening may be coming up for the 4D South for mid October which I will post here if it does come available.
I will pre-book up to 2 years in advance on any ranch.

Happy Hunting

We leased a west TX property from Mike for next season for a self guided trophy aoudad hunt with the (hopefully) best dates. Rutting rams make for some exciting hunts!

Thanks again, Mike. Aoudad are an addiction (as are all mtn game) to me. I could have a whole wall of big 30"+ rams and be 110% happy! I'm getting there and hope to add another off this rough ranch.

Thanks again!

Just got a call from the Consuelo ranch, aoudad are already hitting the protein hard and grouping up. 3 rams that will solidly hit the 33" mark maybe larger are hitting 2 of the feeders regulary.

Will check more cams end of the month.

I just booked 2 spots for September 10th-12th. I had to adjust dates to accomodate the hunters a bit. If anyone wants the 3rd spot for the new dates give me a ring.

Just did a round to feed, water, and do some last minute work before we start doing our first hunts.

Things are looking good for this season and the ranches are plenty green.

Here is a photo looking into Mexico from right outside our 4D South ranch.

36 incher, now that should have been a bruiser. Any idea what he weighed?
A fellow could hunt a long time and not do that again.

Also, in my book, a 31 incher is a fine trophy too.

Congrats to all! tu2

I just had a client have to leave for business out of the country for quite awhile so I have a single opening for October 26th-28th on the Rancho Consuelo reduced to $2700 for 1x1 guided with meals. First come first serve, it is a rut hunt.
