Matt, I hope not to have come across as slamming this hunt. It would definitely fall under the heading of "Different". You make the point that a hunter will not just walk out into a pasture area and start shooting. I think it is just so out of the ordinary that I cannot quite wrap my brain around it. Rich DRSS

Here is a post in the taxidermy forum with a great picture of a camel shoulder mount. Camel Mount ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

Absolutely - you can do a single bull camel hunt after a buff or other hunt. It is not limited to culling. That is just what most people where asking for... Personally I really think the skull from a big bull camel is a great trophy - a unique memento of a unique hunt!! I just returned from a hunt in Australia with Matt. I have hunted in a number of places and this was far more remote than any place in Africa I have ever seen. The only places that come close were a few fly in camps in Canada and Alaska and there it was not unusual to see a plane at a distance. The camp in the AU was not at the edge of the world but I think you could see it there. Only after you have experienced this place can you really appreciate the difficulties of getting supplies to the camp and the cost of doing so. Ken DRSS, PP Chapter Life NRA Life SCI Life DSC

I wish i had the money for the trip, then i would go. If you need helping in the culling of the game otherwise, as a job opportunity it would be interesting, since its difficult for me to find a job over here . was mr Rigby before a pc crash

I am not a SCI member or have no interest. But may I suggest that some people need to educate themselves from a global perspective rather than just their own little world. Australia and New Zealand have many introduced species that have gone feral and have virtually destroyed the habitat. The buffalo in the 70's were a nightmare. Pigs are worse and many species of indigenous animals and birds have become extinct because of feral animal invasion / predation. Feral cats & foxes are real bad too. In NZ red deer were a real pest until the 70's. If you see old photos & film of the 60's you would be shocked at the barren undergrowth of prime habitat that was overgrazed by deer in the 50's after WW2 - when most hunters were not around to control the deer population by hunting. Thousands were shot for skin, tail, etc and left to rot. Many more have been & still are shot from helicopters and processed in an abattoir and exported. Feral goats are also a big pest that destroy native bush, plantations etc. in Australia & NZ. Yes I hunt goats and eat them. It is easy to go to a farm boundary and get permission from the farmer to shoot goats. There are places where people go & shoot 100 goats and just leave them to rot. I suggest that people should not be too quick to judge or condemn others. We down-under hunt & shoot feral game and it is our tradition now. We enjoy it and even love it. It is a great time with friends. Not too serious but still great fun. Our NZ Deer stalkers clubs have trophies for deer, tahr, chamois etc. as well as goats & feral merino sheep. We can even hunt feral cattle in a few locations! What is the difference to shooting exotic animals in Texas? "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

Larry, The camel's are more desert dwellers and although some pigs also inhabbit desert country the majority are along the eastern seaboard and inland up to 1000km's (whoops...600 miles)along our inland rivers and around to the north accross to approximately the Western Austrlia/Northern Territory border. I'm actually in transit to hunt the boars of the tropical north as I type and will hunt with Matt's outfit Cheers, Mark.
