Marco Polo Kyrgyzstan

As I have just posted a hunt for MP in Tajikistan, some might wonder what is the difference. Essentially they are the same species. The sheep in Kyrgyzstan live at a lower altitude and sport shorter horns. An ideal trophy here is an old ram with good mass to the horns. These Marco Polo are also called Tian Shan MP, as they are in the Tian Shan mountains. This hunt is also a lot cheaper than the one in Tajikistan!

- GSCO/Ovis recognize Tian-Shan argali and Hume argali in Kyrgyzstan
- SCI recognize Marco polo and Tian-Shan argali in Kyrgyzstan
The Hunting department of Kyrgyzstan lists it on the CITES permit as MARCO POLO ARGALI - Ovis ammon polii, they do not recognize any different kind of sheep.

Day 11: Back to Bishkek, stay overnight.

THE HUNT
This is a classic mountain spot and stalk hunt. Hunting in Kyrgyzstan requires a lot of horse riding. The elevation range is 9,500 – 11,500 feet above sea level. The stalk is completed on foot once the desired trophy is located. Spike camps are used to stay within the hunting area. Average shooting distance is 350-400 yards.

ACCOMODATION
The base camps are located at 9,300 – 9.700 feet. These are comfortable lodges with separate guest rooms, dining area, and sauna. Tented spike camps or wooden cabins are used to save time and stay within the hunting area.

We will assist you with applying for your CITES import permit from USFW. We can also assist with flight bookings and other travel details.

You can expect to take a Marco Polo trophy between 48"-52". On this hunt you can also take an Ibex trophy.

Thanks for looking.
