Outfitter: Ivory Trail Safaris

Agent: Global Hunting Resources

Location: Zimbabwe – Chirisa

Folks, below are some excellent HUNT SPECIALS offered on a limited basis for the 2011 hunting season. Ivory Trail Safaris is a new outfitting operation run by Zimbabwe PH, Philip Smythe. I have personally hunted with Philip in Zim, and I have a great amount of confidence in his ability to lead a successful hunt. Phil worked several years for HHK safaris, along with some free-lance work for other operators as well, and now he has contracted for his own quota in the Chirisa safari area. Mr. Smythe has also contracted for camp use, so everything will be in place to offer a top-quality, big game safari. Some species are offered on a very limited basis, so please inquire for details.

I will be leaving on Sunday January 2nd for DSC, and will be traveling for the next couple weeks for shows, including SCI as well. I will do my best to check here for questions, etc. However, if you plan to attend the DSC or SCI convention please come by our booth to discuss these hunts in greater detail. Philip Smythe will be with me at DSC & SCI in our booth, and he will be happy to answer any and all questions regarding the area and the hunts offered. You can also email me at globalhunts@aol.com

On the 2011 hunt special price, is that just the daily rate? Then add the trophy fees?

So. does that mean if the PH says it go less than 49#, it is not to be taken. Or did you write it with the wrong symbol?

If the bull is up to 49lbs, the trophy fee is $12,000.00!

JPrice, Should be good providing they have dropped the quota from what they had five years ago. (Quota was "way up there" in 05).

Ozhunter, not sure it will be good.
In 2008 was still difficult to hunt cats there, specially leopard, there are different reasons we can discuss about for this situation, but the fact is that is not easy to shoot a Leopard in Chirisa, I would not recommend Chirisa if you want to go exclusevely for Leopard.

best regards

Guys - Leopard hunting in Chirisa is like any safari area in Zim. Hunting is NOT allowed after dark, thus no night-time hunting. Chirisa has plenty of leopard, if hunting is specifically for leopard, one simply has to work on that. Work areas further from camp, etc. Phil and I are happy to talk to you specifically about this if necessary.

Thanks,

Not to mention $200 for a porcupine! Still, I am told the money goes to help the local chieftan and natives!

Kamo Gari,

I don't think so. Make sure you pick up your empties so you don't get charged with littering...

Hunter: "Wow, that was an amazing safari! Got my ele, buff, leopard and a pile of other critters. I'm only too happy to pay the bill. Let's see, if my calculations are right, I believe the total comes to $57,000, with TFs and DRs, before tips"

PH: "Not exactly, Bwana. It's $57,006. You did shoot 4 sand grouse, if you recall..."

Hunter: "BOOM!"

Thud.

Am having shoulder surgery on 1/7/11 and hope to be rehabbed by April, May also have a bone cancer in rt. hip that needs attending . I am interested in 20 + days to accomplish what I want; Leopard, buff, lion, and some associated other animals to fill in my bag. I probably need a week or so in RSA to get a few animals I did no take on prior safaris. being older and pretty beat up I will need some patients and a lot of help. If you can assist me in this endeavor., please let me know.

Leonard,

Chirisa is an area that doesn't tax the hunter AS physically as some areas, i.e we don't have to climb mountains every couple of miles. A large portion of Chirisa is riverine and undulating hills and we tend to go pretty slowly when following something anyway. Leopard hunting doesn't demand huge physical fitness either. Our road network there is pretty good which allows us to cover ground quickly by car.

Aaron and myself will be in Reno later this month and are more than willing to answer any questions you have, or you can also email me at phillipsmythe@gmail.com

Phillip,

Welcome to AR, it is Kathi from March 2007 Chirisa elephant/buffalo hunt.

I cannot say enough good things about Phillip, hard working, knowledgable and really a lot of fun to hunt with.

We were also previously in Chirisa for lion/buffalo in 2000.

See you in Reno.

Aaron and Phillip,

As to the 7 day Buff hunt:

Is it possible to drive in rather than fly. If so, from where and how much? Is it possible to add a few extra days at PG rates to hunt PG? What are your chances on Eland, Waterbuck and Bushbuck and what size can be expected?

Butch - Yes, you can certainly add a few days for plains game at the PG rate if you wish, not a problem. Eland are in good numbers, but of course you have to work for them. A couple of good waterbuck are there as well, odds are about 50-60% of getting one, and you will almost assuredly get a good bushbuck without too much trouble.

Butch - Sorry, I missed your first question. Yes, one can drive to camp. RT driving is $800.00, where as charter flight is $2,400.00 RT for the plane.
