Does any one know the US Outfitter Tusk and Hides?
We requested him to represent us in the USA. He was very keen until he got his money now he is always away or busy when you want an answer.
This has happened to 2 of us of whom I know of.
Please help with any available info

LabmanI can't help with US Outfitter Tusk and Hides since I've never heard of them, but if you decide to change agents I'd contact one of the reputable agents who post on AR. Mark Young and Wendell Reich are the first two that come to mind.

Matt GrahamYou requested THEM to be your agent??

Why???
20 October 2011, 22:15
BoababThey were looking for hunting outfitters in Namibia. We approached them, thinking they would represnt us at shows and do marketing for us in the US. This was a horrible mistake.
20 October 2011, 22:20
BoababIf you have a look at the Africa Hunting.com forum you will see that we are not the only ones they have run inn. We are far from the US and they think they are safe.
They had a face book page but this has disapeared.
Would appreciate help.

MARK H. YOUNGMargie,
Reading through this thread it seems you gave Tusks and Hides money. Why would you do that? He should be collecting money for you. I don't get it.

BoababYes I do agree Mark. His theory was that he was representing us at trade shows and will then only ask a very small commission 2% for each booking. We gave him US$1300.00. There are 3 Outfitters in S.A. he also had!
It is an expensive lesson.

I can see my elephant pic in his trophy gallery, I emailed him to remove it and he responded within 2 hours that he would. Its still there though.

BoababWould be intresting as to what happens. I would like to warn every one of these guys. He has cost us a great deal of money. What gets me most is the dishonesty of the group and that they ride on honest hard working folk.
We must warn every one!

Matt GrahamI am sorry to hear about this happening... very bad.
If you are looking for agents then you will find some very good ones on this very site - Wendell Reich, Aaron Neilson, Greg Rodriguez, plenty others...
23 October 2011, 23:47
BoababThanks Matt
I have a feeling that they all have their Outfitters in Nam.
But thanks for the recommendations.
Will see what they say. Most are a bit put off as Iam not a guy. 90% of the participants are all guys on this site.
But thanks again. Iam very greatful for any help.

I don't think anyone cares if your a woman or man representing your hunts......I booked 2 different Namibian hunts because I talked to the wives not just the PH husbands.
Stick around the forum and contribute; not just the hunt offering part but others as well (just like you did with the Etosha info)and folks will take an interest in you and your hunts.
Learn to post pics.....everyone here like to see recent hunts and most like and enjoy all things animal and plant from Africa.
Bookings are still tough for everyone right now; one outfitter I know near Otavi relies on one SCI chapter and an agent from Argentina without whom they would be light on clients.
Sorry you got jammed up with this company. Need to be careful lots of guys wanting a free hunt who come home and call themselves agents after one trip also.
Good luck.

dinsdaleI notice on their web site no name of the owner or an address.....A big red-flag in my book.
Often these types re-invent themselves to pull off scams again.....
Have an actual name of those involved?

Matt GrahamCan a few of you USA guys send them enquiries and try and find out who they are??

Maybe give the guy at least a chance.
You will know better when the deposit money comes.

MARK H. YOUNGMargie,
You being a woman has no bearing with an agent that has even a small brain. If yo uknow your business you know your business. Period! With the outfit that I book for in Zambia the owner's wife does ALL the work other than the hunting and she does a remarkable job regardless of her sex.
You are in an incredibly competetive business in trying to sell PG hunts. In my experience you either have to offer low prices or something unique to be very successful.

BoababIf you x by 10 he is in for a GOOD THING!I will see what he is up to. He has not kept any of his agreement! I will keep you posted!

Big Game HunterRegardless if he sends a deposit and hunters to you or not, something just doesn't sound right with this guy.
Agents that I am aware of, I happen to be one of them myself, don't operate the way this guy does.
Good luck and be careful.

BoababI would if it would help. Get some compensation!
Will have to see if there is any one who has a legal education who could help. If it is only to warn these guys not to mess about!

Don't pay the balance until the goods are delivered if at all they ever will be and consider this saga as another lesson learned.
It will probably save you some money in the long run - and redo your maths before doing business with another agent.
There are quite a few well known, honest ones here on AR.

infinitoI have spoken to Dave a lot on the phone. WE insist that an agent must visit us in South Africa to see our fascilities and hunt with us for at least 7 days before they represent us. Unless it is on of the few top dogs out there contacting us. Problem with the top dogs is that they are well respected and have long standing working relationships with their outfitters. The reason why they are the top dogs!
Too be honest, I entertained Dave with his stories untill he asked for money. The game simply just does not work like that.
Good luck with getting your money back. Best thing is to forget about it and see it as school money!
