Hi everyone,

I'm offering some fantastic deer stalking in the stunning Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire countryside roughly an hour from Heathrow Airport. My outfitter has the hunting rights to some lovely estates/farms which have very good populations of Roe Deer, Chinese Water Deer and Muntjac. The deer that inhabit these areas are completely wild and free ranging (no high fences). I have personally hunted these areas as to have clients of mine from AR and elsewhere.

The stalking season is as follows:
Roe bucks April 1st to October 31st
Chinese Water Deer bucks November 1st to March 31st
Muntjac No closed season

Outing fees £360 per outing hunting 1x1, for 2x1 it would be £300 per person per outing (two outings per day morning and evening)

INCLUDED in the above outing fees
Stalking 1x1 or 2x1
Professional guide
Use of an estate rifle & ammunition
Shot test before you go out on the first morning
Field preparation of any deer shot
One representative Roe buck or Chinese Water Deer or Muntjac per outing depending on what time of year
Pick up/drop off each day from/to your hunt accommodation
Observers can accompany the hunter at no extra cost

NOT INCLUDED in the above outing fees
Trophy/medal fees £650 per buck (Roe, Chinese Water Deer or Muntjac)
Hunt accommodation in a traditional country pub/hotel (prices range from £100-£150 per night)
Lunch, dinner and drinks each day
Insurance
Car hire at the airport
I can arrange a driver to pick up from Heathrow/Gatwick and drop off back at the airport after the hunt at an additional cost (price on request)
Taxidermy work and shipping trophies back home
Visitor Firearms Permit £20 if bringing your own rifle (fly to Gatwick if bringing one)

Car hire is recommended because the stalking is only done first thing in the morning and the last three hours until dark. This gives hunters the opportunity to head out sightseeing during the day so having a car helps.

Here are two packages that I can offer as well.

Package 1 £4,000 1x1 for three days hunting
6 x outings
1 x Trophy/Medal Chinese Water Deer
1 x Trophy/Medal Muntjac
4 x management Chinese Water Deer or Muntjac
4 x nights accommodation at a local pub/hotel
Airport transfers
Pick up & Drop off each day
Rifle hire & ammo

Package 2 £4,000 1x1 for three days hunting
6 x outings
2 x Trophy/medal Roe bucks
4 x management Roe bucks
4 x nights accommodation at a local pub/hotel
Airport transfers
Pick up & Drop off each day
Rifle hire & ammo

These packages do not include lunch, dinner and drinks each day or additional trophy/medal heads £650 per head (Chinese Water Deer or Roe buck or Muntjac)

I can give references from AR members if needed.

With kind regards
Mike

That is correct apart from it's pound sterling not euros and it would include two representative deer, Roe or Chinese Water Deer or Muntjac. Trophy/medal heads are extra.

I can't do this hunt this year, but curious what is a typical shot distance ? Also are they quick snap shots or do you have time to make the shot?

I know these animals are small and like thick brush.

Hi bghunter3,

If you are hunting Roe bucks in the rut shots can be close. They will come running in to the call and shots can be as close as 40-50 yards but the maximum range would be around 150 yards. My guides would make sure you are comfortable with the distance before taking a shot. All Roe buck stalking is walk and stalk, no high seats.

Chinese Water Deer like to sit out in the middle of fields where they feel safe so shots do tend to be longer. It's all about getting the wind right and using the hedgerows to get into a good shooting position. Shots would generally be between 100 and 200 yards but again my guides would make sure you are happy with taking a shot. There's no pressure to shoot if you don't feel comfortable. All Chinese Water Deer is walk and stalk, no high seats.

Most of the muntjac seen will be in woodland but in the winter months there is not too much cover on the ground so seeing them is a little easier. Muntjac tend not to stand still for very long so quicker shots are likely. If you are sitting in a high seat overlooking Pheasant feeders you will have more time to asses the distance and make a comfortable shot.

With kind regards
Mike

Hi Shawn,

That would work out perfectly because the hunting areas are close to London. When you are ready to start looking at dates send me an email mtaylorsporting@gmail.com and I'll send you the information. I'll drive down and meet up with you either in London or at your hunt accommodation.

With kind regards
Mike

I assume, capes etc cannot be taken home as checked baggage? Do you happen to know the rough cost of shipping back to the states for trophies taken?
