Hi Guys
I have put together a safari package for this year in Natal that should be a lot of fun for the people who decide to go for it.

Hilton always says that Bushpig are more dangerous/exciting than Buff. I say that Hippo on dry land takes the cake, but for this one you get to tell us at the end where the real pucker factor hit home.

Your only requirement will be a hard hitting rifle of 375 and up, that you are familiar with, and the urge to take on big game at close quarters. Suggest an easy pointing rifle with a short barrel that you don't mind carrying.

Duration: 7-10 days (if you are done hunting after 4 we can carry on taking other trophies or go Game Park hopping until you leave. We do specialise in Mini 10 so 2 of them are in the same area as well as world class Nyala good Waterbuck. If you decide to head home after we have taken what you want you are free to do that too. The hunt is as flexible as you want it to be.

Hunt Plan:
Fly in to Richards Bay or Durban.

Bushpig:
Head to the Cane Lands for a day of Bushpig hunting over my hounds. You have the great privileged to hunt with my very experienced pack. Meet Chase, Fudge, Split and the rest of the pack in pursuit of pigs. Our pack of 10 mixed Blue and Red Tick hounds are top class having taken over 1500 pigs between them. Just make sure you dont miss, or you will be in the "dogbox"... with the pack.

Once the pigs are in the salt we head north to the Bushveld to take on Hippo and Buffalo.
All of this hunting is within 2,5 hours of the airport so no major road days.

Hippo:
Hunt Hippo along a shallow river system. You can expect to take a good mature bull in thick stuff and up close.

Buffalo:
Hunt a mature hard bossed bull in the 38"-40" class. Thick bush and plenty of buff.

Costs:

Day Rate:
Normal Day rates are
DG - USD 850/day (Buffalo, Lion, Rhino)
DG - Elephant (Day rate for Elephant are POA)
DG - Leopard USD 715/day
Non DG - USD 500/day

Because this is a combination hunt and we are looking to promote these hunts the day rate will be a flat rate at the Non DG rate. So you save USD 350/day for the DG portion of the hunt
This rate will be valid for 2013 in the Big Hitter Safari Package only.

1x1 USD 500/hunter/day
2x1 USD 450/hunter/day

Bushpig - USD 1650

I have always said that the Big 5 should really be the big 6 and hippo would be number 6.
In terms of bang for your buck hippo on land is the best value DG hunting out there.
Bushpig are also far more savage than most people think and injure a lot of people each year.

John, when you make it out here to hunt with me I will get you up close with a few pigs and you can tell me what you think.

Cheers
Ian
