HAWAII for BLACK BUCK, AXIS and More plus RIO's 2024-25

MARK H. YOUNGHAWAII for BLACK BUCK, AXIS and More plus RIO's 2024-25
I've recently established a relationship with Hawaii Safaris/Patrick Fletcher. Pat offers all the Hawaiian species but has excellent axis deer on Molokai and Maui. The attached pix are recent bucks.
PAT PASSED AWAY UNEXPECTADLY AT 52. Hawaii Safaris is still alive and well. They still offer all the usual Hawaii species as well excellent axis and turkey hunting plus charter and bone fishing.
Hunting is all spot and stalk and shots might be 300 yards. They have very accurate custom rifles available for these longer shots for a nominal fee. This will allow you to travel without the firearms angst.
Molokai itself is the more laid back of the Hawaiian Islands and no way near as touristy as nearby Maui. What I might suggest is booking a few days for a beach vacation on Maui and taking a side trip for a two day hunt on Molokai. Molokai can be reach easily from Maui on a short flight for $100 each way. On Maui you will arrange your own accommodations but will be responsible to get the hunt area on your own.
On Molokai Hawaii Safaris will arrange accommodations at the very nice Wavecrest Oceanfront Molokai
https://www.vrbo.com/1920884?n...=true&unitId=2483403 Price is about $150 per night payable to the Wavecrest.
On Maui you will need to arrange your own accommodations but will be responsible to get the hunt area on your own.
Rut is May into early July. You will see more big axis bucks during the rut period but success is 99% regardless of dates. Blackbuck can be added also with a 99% success rate.
Pricing:
2 day Axis hunt $4,100 per hunter includes day fees and (1) axis buck. Additional does can be arranged.
Blackbuck $4,900
Rio Turkey $1,950 2nd bird $1,300 (Big Island)
SEE RECENT REPORT ON HAWAII TURKEY HUNT Observer $100 per day
Hire of guns including ammo $100 for the whole hunt
4.17% sales tax
Accommodations and food are not included.
Call me and book a beach vacation for the family and a good hunt for yourself.

Eland SlayerMark,
What is the process of getting the trophy back to the mainland? My wife and I spent our honeymoon on Oahu, and are contemplating a trip to Maui in the future. This would certainly sweeten the deal for me.

No issues at all. Just like shooting axis in Texas and shipping the trophy to Montana.

Baker458Mark: How about Mouflon with this outfitter?
I've been keen to get a free-range mouflon.

470EDDYMARK
Your Honey Hole secret is blown on Axis Deer!! It is spread all over the cover of AMERICAN HUNTER, January issue, and a good article inside...better book soon!! This is a small place!!
I don't think there are Mouflon on Molokai. Had been lots of them on the Big Island of Hawaii, but the State has been culling them off to protect some high mountain plant species they feed on!! My Vancouver Bull outfitter does book for them...
HAPPY NEW YEAR

MARK H. YOUNGSteve,
Molakai is no secret nor is Hawaii Safaris. Shockey and other notables in the biz have hunted and written about the island and this operator.
Thing is the season is long, hunts are short with good trophy quality so there are usually openings.

FjoldMark, any other offers on the big island besides turkey?
My brother just bought a house there, so I have someplace to stay.

MARK H. YOUNGFrank,
There are several other species available on the Big Island to include Black Hawaiian sheep, Mouflon cross sheep, Spanish Ibex (goats) and pigs. With the exception of pigs you should see 75 or more of of each species per day. Pigs 5-10 per day.
Call me if you'd like to discuss.

Yes, I have hunted Maui a few times, Hawaiians appreciate hunting and I had zero trouble.
One must register their rifle with the police within 5 days of landing, it's straightforward, but they want a money order for the fee (something like $45) BUT once registered, no need to do so again for that rifle.
Hawaiian Airlines can be a little picky about the rifle case, but that's all. Other airlines are just like they are elsewhere in the US.
No tags, just a license and whatever daily limits apply!
If you have any other questions on traveling to HI to hunt I am glad to help. It has not been a problem for me or my friend.
Don't forget to check out the island of Niihau for eland and aoudad, besides feral pig and sheep. I conducted animal control hunts on Niihau for 22 years. When I ceased operations on the island 10 years ago, there were over 2,000 eland on the 72 sq. mile island. I'm guessing that the numbers should be over 3,000 by now.
The eland are a hybrid of Livingston and Cape variety. African ph's and biologist will tell you that the eland cow will have only one calf per year. The favorite follage for the Niihau eland is the Inia, India in Hawaiian, tree and fruit. There, twin births are common, thus the population explosion. I'm guessing that the Inia tree is some sort of fertility supplement for the eland.
You may wish the contact Niihau Helicopters on Kauai for current hunt, trophy fees, and helicopter charter prices. Ask for Leiana Robinson, the island owners wife at the helicopter office.
