Aaron,
What is a landowner voucher? Is that something like a landowner tag you can buy instead of going through the drawing?

Also, is the a ranch type hunt with accomodations in a bunk house or a local motel?

Do you know what hunt units? Also, are the estimates for the landowner tags the same archery, muzzleloader, or rifle?

Dogcat - Yes, it's the exact same thing. If you buy the voucher, you still have to pay the NM Game & Fish the $562.00 non-resident elk license.

Opus72 - The hunt is in unit 10. The landowner voucher cost is an estimate, because we will have to see what the landowners are gonna want for the tags in 2010. In '09 the cost of the vouchers went down because of the economy, I am hoping for the same in 2010. Just hard to say right at this moment what we can get them for, so I said $3,000.00 as an educated estimate.

Thanks, what about the accomodations and success rate in previous hunts?
10 February 2010, 01:29
Aaron Neilson
Dogcat - Accommodations are local motel & restaurant. Nothing super fancy, but clean and comfortable. Success rates really depend on two things, your physical ability, although this area is not very rugged and what type of bull you are really looking for. 320 - 350 bulls, should be good odds, over that, just depends on our luck!

Thanks,

Aaron - is that the same outfitter Larry hunted with recent? Just wondering...

That sure is a great price mate!!

I always thought NM hunts would be out of my range but now I have to work it out. I'm still picking cactus out of my legs after my day on the mountain!! Love it!!
