Is it possible to hunt impala, Grant's gazelle, gerenuk and maybe Lesser Kudu for a somewhat reasonable price in Tanzania? I realize "somewhat reasonable" can mean different things to different people, but how much would it cost?

I think you will find gerenuk and lesser kudu will probably require a 21 day hunt.

I should reword my question then, "what is the most affordable plains game hunt in Tanzania and what species can you take?"

Wink,

Tanzania does not offer plains game hunts as such. You can take some of the unique EA species on a 10 day buffalo hunt but to get most of the specialty animals you'll need as suggested a 21 day license and boat load of cash.

Wink,
I don't remember who was doing it, but someone on here was advertising a plains game hunt. Basically the client was to buy a 21 day license, then book and hunt a 16 day trip.

I've layed awake many a night thinking of ANY way possible to get a chance to chase Gerenuk, lesser kudu, Grants, Tommies, etc. and not have to take out a 2nd mortgage.. I know your pain. That is my dream hunt.

I know I've talked to quite a few guys and haven't found anything that I could justify as reasonable, sorta like hunting some of the species in CAR or Cameroun. WE can always dream boys~

I suppose a guy'd only need to hunt 2 days if he could get his animals AND the Tanzinaian government got the fees for a 21 day hunt. Be nice to be loaded sometimes, wouldn't it?

Hello Wink

You can buy a 10 day license and hunt in the Massiland for 7 days, the license will allow you to shoot 1 buffalo, a Grants gazelle,a Thompson’s gazelle, and a zebra. For the Gerenuk and lesser kudu you need a 21 day license and the quota is limited so the outfitters are reluctant to let you buy a 21 day license and hunt for only 7 or 10 days.

If you talk to some of the outfitters they may let you just hunt the Gazelles and it would be a reasonable amount if you do not shoot a buffalo and have to pay for the trophy fee.

Talk to the outfitter Club Faune, I had once discussed a hunt for the Gazelles with them.

Regards
Aziz

Is this correct that you can hunt lesser kudu, etc.in Tanzania on a 10 day hunt? The hunt is listed under packages.

Lesser kudu and some other northern species only feature on a 21 day licence in Tanzania. I assume they're offering a 21 day licence for restricted days hunting and possibly/probably restricted species.

FWIW, lesser kudu can be taken in Uganda without a set licence duration requirement and a trophy fee of US$1800.... they only have a very small quota though.

Steve,

That's really interesting. Do you know who is hunting in Uganda now?

I thought that Ethopia was the only other option for lesser kudu...

BTW, Wendel Rich was offering plains game hunts in Tanzania for the western/northern species. Not cheep, but lower than the full-bag 21 day hunts if I remember rightly.

Danny Mccallum has a "deal" this year.. 18K ALL IN except trophy fees.
Area: Ngaserai
Days: 7

21 days license, so you can shoot all the plainsgame =lesser k/gerenuk/oryx/dik dik/eland/thomson/grants etc. You will probably never see a hunt in Masailand for this price anytime soon again I think.

No DG in this area.
