We are trying to finish up our last remaining quota that’s unsold from the Show season, and would like to offer these 2 EXPORTABLE elephant hunts (both over 14 hunting days and 2 travel days). Both these hunts are for one hunter and one observer. Normal price for these hunts (including an observer) is US$ 53 200, but they are selling for US$ 40 000 each. A 50% deposit will secure the hunt, with the other 50% payable at the end of the safari. In case there are any American hunters that are concerned about the recent rumors that Namibian elephant trophies will also be banned for import into the USA, I am willing to extend the payment of the second 50% until such time as they have been issued an import permit by USFW or until such time as USFW makes a public statement allowing the importation of elephant trophies from Namibia. (Provided that they apply no later than 7 days after the hunt.) Hunt 1: The hunt will be out of our Sobbe camp, which has recently been revamped. This hunt can be taken either 11 June to 1 July or 16-30 November 2018. This area consists mostly of mixed Terminalia and camelthorn bush, with a section in the southern end of the area that’s mostly mopane trees. For the trophy bull, one can expect a bull in the 40 to 50 pounds class. Hunt 2: The hunt will be out of our Sikunga camp, which is on the banks of the Zambezi river. This hunt can be taken between end July and beginning of November 2018. The area consists 60% of mixed Terminalia and 40% floodplains with huge tree islands. Expect a bull in the 40 to 50 pounds class. Very little plains game available on this area, but if need be can move to Sobbe or other area to do some plains game hunting after elephant is down. Hippo will likely be hunted in the Zambezi. Both these hunts are track and stalk hunts, and can only be done with a rifle of 9.3 and up (around 3 950 ft. Lbs. energy is the minimum). They will likely be guided by myself or Fred Bezuidnehout. Limited other game may also be available to add at trophy fees only. They include (while quota is available): Hippo (one left) $ 5000 Buffalo (Sobbe) $ 7500 Eland $ 2500 Kudu $ 1750 Zebra $ 1500 Impala $ 700 Warthog $ 400 Duiker $ 250 To add an extra observer for the full 14 hunting days and 2 travel days, add US$ 2 800. To add a cameraman to film your hunt, add US$ 4000 for the full period, including editing. To add fishing at the end of your safari: Free Pick up and drop off point is either Katima Mulilo (Mpacha airport has 4 flights a week coming in from Windhoek), or Kasane (Botswana, which is serviced daily from Johannesburg). If a hunter comes via Kasane, we will need his gun paperwork no later than 7 days before he/ she arrives. If a hunter wants to borrow one of our guns, we will have the following available: .375 H&H CZ550 with synthetic stock and 1.5-6x 43 Schmidt und Bender on. .416 Rem mag Mod 70 Winchester with 1-4x24 Swarovski .404 Jeff (Mauser M98) open sights .450 Rigby (M98 Magnum) with open sights .500 NE Verney Carron with a Doctor Optic red dot or open sights (All available free of charge provided that if you break it you buy it…) If I left out any details, or if you would like to discuss anything more about this option, please contact myself (Karl Stumpfe) on karl@huntingsafaris.net or Colleen on admin@huntingsafaris.net . Ian got to dive for it. It's funny that the guy who outfitted my first hunt hires the guy that outfitted my last hunt to dive for his rifle in the river. Frank I must actually finish the story I wrote about this rather exciting adventure. The funniest part of the whole lot was trying to explain to the Zambian Anti poaching patrol that we were in-fact shooting off the 44Mag into the water to scare hippos away while I scuba dived in the water to find Karls guns. The utter disbelief in his face was amazing. All the while he leaned on his AK like a Marabou Stork at a water hole. In the end we gave him a coke, and he decided all was ok. No harm no foul. TIA. You will get the full picture in the story, but the most exciting part was when the hippo, not the least worried about all the shots from the 44, swam between me and the boat and hooked my tether line and ripped it out of my hands. It got a bit hairy to say the least. We were really glad to have been able to get them out in about an hour. We expected it to take a lot longer. Either way the water gets really dark really quick at 6m depth in the Zambezi! But this adventure is one that will no doubt keep me smiling into my later years. That's if I get to be old and drink whiskey round a fire whilst bitching about my sore bones and buggered eyes! On a side note. Anyone considering this hunt would be a fool not to go for it. One of the most pristine and spectacular concessions I have been lucky enough to see. We saw a lot of Elephants while we were there, heaps of hippo and a 15 foot(estimated) crock. We also saw some spectacular old buffalo bulls, not sure if there is quota left, but they were old buggers with character for days. All told, I would not hesitate to hunt there or send a client of mine up. Great place and great people! deadibob, obviously thats a detail that needs to be worked out between the hunter that actually book the hunt, and myself. One suggestion would be that if he does not get an import permit within a reasonable time (say 6 months), then I keep the ivory for the trophy fee. But I remain very positive that the permits will be issued, thus suggesting the above situation (which by the way means a financial loss to me, so not what I would like obviously!)
