We don't exactly have a shortage either though in the mix there are far too many tuskless, in both males and females which we could well do without if we want to maintain an ideal gene pool. Why do we have an excessive amount of tuskless elephants? Simply because during the poaching era they survived and are more noticeable now than they were at a time when the population was approx. 60% higher than what is estimated today and on the increase as genetic interbreeding of tuskless animals produces more of the same. | ||
